Exterior fiberglass door, minimum rough opening gap?

Steve L

I'm planning to install an off-the-shelf fiberglass pre-hung exterior door on my house.
The unit is 37.5 inches wide. My rough opening varies between 37.75 and 38 inches wide.
I can see the framing and I'm sure I can get the door in plumb, but there will be places with zero shim on the hinge side and 1/4 inch shim on the other.
Is this a reasonable amount of gap between the jamb and the rough opening for an entry door in a load bearing 2x4 wood framed exterior wall?
Plenty of gap in the top side. It is just the sides that are tight.
Thanks,
-Steve
