A bigger issue is the mismatched windows and what reason for the drapes it is always good to post a bit more info.

The reason you want draperies will help us to decide what type to recommend. Do you need privacy? Sun protection? Need to soften the room? etc....

I would hang curtains with the rod as is and live with them a while to see if you like them. Nothing custom so you can take them back. Try a light drape with blue accents to match your area rug. Then you’ll know if the rod should be hung higher.

Giving you permission to break a rule: Center the rug on the door even though it means sofa won't be anchored on it. (Or if you're a stickler, move the sofa forward a foot so it's not directly against the wall.)

Plain white curtains would be best since you have a highly pattern rug. When pulled to the side, white will also blend in with your TV stand. Like the others, do you even need curtains since you seem to have a private view?

You have wonderful light coming in. Consider adding an arrangement of tall plants in front of the two side windows flanking the door. And plenty of plants on your deck in colorful pots to extend the living room view.

A chair like this in navy or red would harmonize well with your coffee table and add a conversational piece to the layout if you placed it on the left front corner of the rug,

Instead of curtains, a long vertical abstract skyscape in blue palette would balance out TV screen and stand and would be a kind of view/window. Relocate corner piece if you hang art work here.

What is missing in your space is a conversation grouping of furniture so in order to create that in this room with the two doors is to float your sofa as mentioned above to face your entertainment center on the long wall where your sofa currently is. You may need to balance it with something like a tall plant on one side and 3 equal size pieces of art (or floor length mirror) on the other to stretch on this longer wall. Move your buffet from the dining room (crowded) to the space that the entertainment center was previously. Now you have room to add two chairs on either side of the newly positioned entertainment center. You could create a reading nook with one chair by the stairs. Your current sectional may be to long to float so you may have to downsize your sofa and if replacing stay with similar lines such as lower back and lighter color. The curtain rods look equally spaced in terms of height but would stay away from dark colors that would draw attention to the uneven height.

If adding drapes, the rods are way too low. It‘s always nicer as well for drapes to rest more on wall. The sliding door is too close to corner and with tv location, it‘s not possible on doors either. I’d just opt for nice blinds on both and with your modern room, clean lines would better suit them anyway.

The rods are too low and too short. You appear to have a beautiful, private view, at least on the back. You could use drapes on just the side doors, and leave the back bare, or use shades on both as shown above. You have room to add more seating, and need to group it with your sofa. If you are the only one that watches TV, you can just add two armchairs across from the sofa, facing in, with a narrow rectangular coffee table. Or, float the sofa with it's back to the dining table, facing the windows, and add two armchairs on the wall. If you want the seating grouping to be around the tv, move the tv and console to the side wall by the dining table, float the sofa directly across from it, and use two chairs facing the windows with their backs to the table. You would have extra space behind the sofa for your chaise and maybe a desk across from it. I would also add an end table with table lamp and another floor lamp to the space. Ambient lighting is very important to creating a nice feel in the room.

Thank you everyone that answered. I really appreciate it. The reason for the curtains is because my other deck has sliding doors and is my bedroom. There are times that I want to leave the doors open for natural air and if someone is in the living room, I see the light. I have my 18 and 21 year old home for summers and college break. a lot of you mentioned "floating the sofa". I'm not sure what you mean. I will have to order new furniture most likely because the back of this one isn't as nice. The reason I didn't put the entertainment center on the wall behind the sofa is because the room looked weighted to the right side with the dining room right there. It's a weird configuration. @housegal200 - I'm adding 1 more photo because my sofa is actually about 3 feet from the wall already. I like the idea of centering the rug though and love the chair!

You could add blackout shades to your bedroom instead, and leave the living area sliders bare. But drapes would be fine there, too. "Floating" the sofa just means not against a wall. Pulling it forward off the wall doesn't help you with adding more seating. Try floating it off a wall completely - with the back of the sofa to the dining table, so you can add two chairs near the wall in an "L" configuration. Or, if you want the grouping to be open to the dining room, try this arrangment with the sofa back facing the windows, with your dining table replacing the fireplace in the example.

A few pictures to show the idea of floating furniture in room. This room below (couch facing the TV) is what I was suggesting as it keeps it open in front of your larger windows and is more welcoming than looking at the back of a sofa.

While the drapery rods may be lower than you really want, they are probably in the right place for standard 84 inch drapes. I think once you hang matching neutral drapes on both rods, they will look fine.

I love these pics. My issue with this house is that there is nothing centered for a focal point like your fireplace. My doors are in a weird spot. I am getting a pair of chairs reupholstered (my thrift store Steal/find-Philipe starck swivel chairs for $100 total). I was thinking of using them somewhere.

You don't need a fireplace to have a focal point in the room. Your focal point can either be your TV unit or the french doors.
