How to successfully dye leather?

I purchased a 2 light beige leather sectionals. Top of the line leather, from Italy, etc. I would like to change the color of one sectional to black or camel. As I understand it, after cleaning and washing, one must remove the sealant with acetone or a product designed specifically to remove the sealant. Then the dye is applied thoroughly. Then, the dye needs to be re-sealed so it doesn't bleed onto clothing, etc. Has anyone actually gone through this laborious process and had success?
