What would look good/do well here?
Comments (11)Ooh, so many good ideas that would be great in terms of color and shape. As for caladium, we have tons of elephant ears that grow happily here but they're plain green and too much like the philodendron, but I'll look into smaller colorful ones. and turks cap looks terrific. I've never heard of crotons so I'm off to look them up. I forgot to mention that I have 3 early daylilies there that seem to do okay -- they blossom, though not much. I like the novelty ideas re art or benches, but this particular area isn't a good place for sitting, and Art Will Be Stolen. (I have a neighbor who had a potted tomato plants stolen from his yard, and another had a bench lifted from his open front porch. Sometimes it's a student prank, sometimes not, but we don't leave valuables near the road. Thank you all so much for the great ideas. Now I have a list to consider. (BTW, I realized that it was my zone info that was causing the per cent marks.)...See MoreWhat color table would look good here?
Comments (5)I would go with black. I think white would be too jarring with the rest of your stone, countertops, wall color, and back splash-none of which seem to have any white at all, but are more earthy in tone. Love your double fireplace. I would like to alter ours between the living room/dining room into one like yours. Very pretty spaces and I think your table idea will be great!...See MoreWould these roses look good here or out of place?
Comments (3)They wouldn't be my first choice......only because I think they will get too large for that location. I'd stick with a lower growing landscape rose. Some possibilities are 'Popcorn Drift', 'Gourmet Popcorn', 'Seafoam' or Flower Carpet White. All are low mounding spreaders...somehere around 18-30" tall and wide....See MoreLook at my plans. What's good? Not so good? Where to go from here?

I think the changes I've made address most of your comments. Take a look at the revised floor plan and let me know what you think. I'm still struggling with the kitchen layout and where the appliances should go. Other commenters have made similar suggestions to yours about the master suite but there's a few things keeping me from making changes to that space. One being that my wife especially loves taking baths and I located the bath tub to have a great view of the mountains to the east (foot end of the tub). The window along the north side of the tub offers views into the forest and is a very private part of our property so we won't need to draw the window shade. I aligned the door between the bath area and bed area to be centered with the bed and that window will be a focal point from the bed. We will get some light from that direction too. The space at the foot of the bed is reserved for an area that my wife can use when doing yoga and the big window looks towards our mountain view. Maybe we could have a small window up high next to the bed on the south wall for a little extra light that wouldn't intrude on privacy? Maybe we should also sound proof the wall at the head of the bed since it will share a wall with the kitchen? We will have the TV upstairs in the bonus room....See Moretsugajunkie z5 SE WI ♱
