HELP! Need suggestions on exterior paint colors please.
Comments (2)The flat trim board under your windows will cause leaks if it was not flashed properly or if the sill nosing doesn't project and overhang enough for an effective drip (in the traditional manner). Sealant/caulk at that joint is only temporary. I've seen this detail cost owners a lot of money so make sure your contractor knows what he's doing. One solution is to add a projecting PVC sill nosing in place of the flat trim. It's difficult to beat the traditional double-hung window sill design. Comments (5)From the pics that you posted, the only thing that really looks white is your garage door. Unless the whole house is in need of a paint job, I would paint the fascia a darker color. Comments (6)You can't use a cool white with those cabinets, you need a warm white. Look at BM Simply White and/or SW Alabaster. You can get peel and stick samples from Samplize.com, or paint sample swatches on your walls. Alternatively, you can paint samples on a board or scrap piece of drywall so you can move it around to look at it on all four walls. Be sure to paint two coats when sampling and hold the board vertically against your floors and counters since that's the way the color will be next to them. Sometimes it helps to paint a section with primer to look at your samples against so you're not distracted by the existing color. Look at the samples at different times of the day and when it's cloudy and sunny. The way a color looks is so dependent upon the lighting and direction your windows face. There is no way to know what is going to work without trying a couple. You can paint the ceiling the same color, or use what the paint store calls "ceiling white" which is very neutral. Ceilings tend to pick up tint from the surroundings....See MoreUser
