Big Stretch caulk on drywall?
Comments (7)You guys are waaaay more knowledgeable than any of the store employees who've helped me. Today, I went to Ace Hardware, and after explaining my needs, the guy handed me a tube of cove molding adhesive saying that it would be perfect. Instead, I bought DAP Alex Painter's Acrylic Latex Caulk. I looked at an acrylic latex with silicone, but chickened out because it didn't specifically mention what it would adhere to (i.e. drywall). I asked the salesman to help me choose between those two, and he recommended the cove molding adhesive. I honestly don't mind another trip, because I don't ever plan to repaint this closet. I've pulled out the pine shelving, stripped it, stained it and applied 3 coats of spar urethane. I want to do a good job of painting it before I put the shelves back in. Would you recommend the acrylic latex caulk with silicone, painter's acrylic latex caulk or Big Stretch? I definitely want to use the Big Stretch for brick/wood caulking when we paint the outside of the house, but will it adhere to drywall (the label doesn't list it)? Thanks so much for your advice and patience. I just want to do the best job I can on this project....See MoreBig gap on side on granite countertop
Comments (9)I'd use the same tile on the side splash that you use on the back splash. IMHO I think it would look weird to have the 4" granite splash on the side and then tile on the back. You don't have to have the side splash at the same 4" as your old granite splash. You can take it up to the same height as the backsplash or transition it to a lower level. The link below has some examples. Here is a link that might be useful: Side splash...See MoreCaulking the gaps between cabinets and walls & ceiling
Comments (6)Realize that “painters” are a dime a dozen, and usually do not do prep before slapping on some housepaint. A great Painting Contractor, as well as being licensed and insured, will talk to you about the prep that is needed before the paint goes up. And he will charge for it too. Comments (18)Pull up your range manufacturers installation specs and measurements. Some do do use a compressed foam gasket, which is to level out any countertop irregularities, or to provide a minute heat separator for some counter types, like Corian. Some want the flange directly on stone. Check to see which yours specifies. Check to be sure that the counters to either side are level front to back and side to side. Check to see if the rangetop is level too. That sounds like overkill, I know. But before you seal the rangetop to the counter, you want to be sure that you won’t have to take it out soon and tweak any slight incorrect install. It’s weight should bear on the counters, but the majority of it should be supported from underneath. Which is why the fact that there is a gap needs to be assessed to see if it’s installed correctly....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
