When we went looking for countertop material, we saw a display counter in one of the showrooms of seafoam green and really loved it. Unfortunately, their available slabs were a more yellowish/grayish faded sort of color. Not what we wanted. We searched about 6 other stoneyards and did not like any of the material we saw, so we started looking for alternates. We had decided that we wanted to go with a green material if we could find one we liked. We found some lovely slabs of seafoam at the last place we looked. What almost all of the suppliers told us was that the seafoam green material now coming out of the quarry is not as good as it used to be. Other materials we looked at were tropical green, rainforest green, minsk green, costa esmerelda, neptune bordeaux (sort of grayish/blue/greenish). The pictures I found of the Iron green look interesting. You told us what your cabinets and floors are like, but not the style of the cabinets and what type of feel you want your kitchen to have: traditional, modern, cozy, etc? That would help the people here give you suggestions. Pictures of the space would help too. For the perimiter countertops, you could pick a countertop in a quartz or other material that is light or picks up one of the colors in your island stone. The type of backsplash will really depend on the style of kitchen you want to have. Good luck with your kitchen project.

We are renovating our kitchen -- it will be a u shaped kitchen (quite large - about 20 x 15) with a large island in the middle. I'm going to do white cabinets on the perimeter and all countertops in a granite that looks very similar to marble (light gray with darker gray veins called "white vermont"). I will have hardwood floors, which I'll probably do in medium walnut color (i can't do a very dark brown brown because the rest of my house has lighter floors, but i can pick the stain). Would love to get thoughts on the following (and thank you in advance!): 1. I want to set off the island cabinetry in a different color so it's not too sterile and was thinking of doing gray. should I do a very dark charcoal gray (like BM Anchor Gray or Iron Mountain) or a medium gray (like BM Trout Gray or Steel wool)? My concern is how this gray color will blend with the medium walnut brown floor color and stand out against the white cabinetry....and i'm not seeing a lot about painted gray cabinetry. Any thoughts/concerns with this floor/island color combo generally and any paint color suggestions? 2. I think I'm going to run the granite up the wall as backsplash. I will have a hearth area with a white wooden hood blending with the cabinetry and i may do a recessed shelf on this wall -- do you think it will be too monotonous to use the same granite also behind the stove within the hearth area, or should i use a different stone? Thanks for your thoughts - i'm getting a little overwhelmed thinking about all these details!

I agree with only using Brittanica on the island. I also like that MSI Quartz and had not seen that! If we did go with Brittanica for the island what cabinet paint color would you recommend instead? I am nervous about the yellow, but can't seem to find a good color match. Thanks! If we did two different counters I will do the island white as well.

Hi. I think about the adjoining room with white floor - are there any permanent features [like fireplace] - and their color might look good repeated somehow on the outer.
