can i do the same rug in the mbr & lr?
Comments (4)I think the master bedroom and living room are separate enough that using the same rug wouldn't be an issue. I would just try and pull out different colors to be the dominant decorating scheme in each room - if you decorate them in the same paint/window treatments etc. then while again, I don't think anyone would really notice, you might get tired of the sameness of the rooms over time. But if you pull the blue out of the rug for one room and the green for another, I don't think that they share the same exact rug will matter at all....See MoreIf I have two large rugs in a room how different should they be?
Comments (16)I really don't think there is any way to state what looks good in all cases, categorically. As with most things, It Depends.....on your colors, your furniture, the architecture of the rooms, and not the least the two rugs themselves. I honestly cannot imagine you making a mistake in this area, Bumble, with your eye for color and shape. And in my own opinion, having one beautifully patterned rug and one jute or seagrass rarely works. It takes away from the neutral texture (practically mumbling audibly 'I'm here because I'm unimportant") and gives far too much importance to the patterned one. It also sometimes looks like the second was an afterthought or that the budget ran out....See MoreHow much matching is required for light fixtures in different rooms?
Comments (12)amber- I know I could wait to decide on all 3 light fixtures, but I really want to coordinate them now or it could end up being 10 years before I do anything. We are changing furniture, painting and remodeling, so I want to strike now while I'm doing everything or I will never do it. Here are 3 lights I like. Do they work well together? Which should go where? I'm thinking starburst in DR, spiral one entryway and the other one on stairs. Door hardware is orb but being changed to matte black. Kitchen will be white/black/gray with stainless and chrome. Kitchen is not open to DR but the light can be seen from the glass door that separates them. If any of these fixtures look terrible together, please be honest....See MorePillows to match area rug/ need to add color to the room
Comments (9)Getting the right combination of cushions is not easy - mixing patterns, solids, textures, shapes and sizes. It may take a few shopping trips and bring home a few and try them out. Suggest not trying too hard to mimic rug and being safe, as walls and couch are so similar, room needs some punch and be sure to layer. If you accessorize the tv wall, the room will feel more layered as well....See MoreNinapearl
