garage and side door
I want to update the garage and side door that have to be replaced. I would like suggestions on style and color. I realize the driveway also needs an update. Are there products available to cover the existing concrete as I don't want to tear it all out and lay new concrete.
the gutters are a color called Royal Brown
the front door unit is a wood stain. I don't see the need to replace it.

2 years agoI think a dark color would like nice on the doors with that brick. Or maybe do dark brown or charcoal on the garage door and match the side door with the front door.

I replaced the pantry door with a similar shaker style glass door but didn't replace the door to the mudroom. if we did that, we'd have to replace all the doors in the house (6 panel), and our overall house isn't craftsman or shaker style, so the doors would have looked a little out of place outside of the kitchen....See Moreadvice replacing exterior doors
Comments (4)They are full of uneducated baloney, IMHO. Those sizes are normal sizes and offered on HD websites. (Added). Rough openings for doors are usually 2" higher and 2" wider than the intended door size. That puts your RO's at 83" high and 40" or 4" wide. Wall thicknesses are varied. Normal 2" by 4" exterior walls are 3&1/2"(lumber), plus 1/2"(sheetrock), plus at leas 1/2" sheathing for a total of 4&1/2". My house(built in 1965) has exterior walls of that thickness. $500 a door is a bit high. Look elsewhere. Like contractors or even experienced handy persons. Doors were one of my favorite jobs and I seldom charged more than $300(which included getting the door from the store if necessary). And what goeffrey_b wrote is excellent. Comments (3)Thanks Millworkman. It does not need to be fiberglass. It'll ultimately be painted black or a dark color. I'll check into the lumber yard. From my early research, the solid wood doors look to be at least double the cost which I'm trying to avoid for a what would be the garage storage door. 2 years agolast modified: 2 years agoI would tie in the color of the shutters to unify the house, so whatever color you decide on for garage and side door, paint shutters to match.
If budget permitted, a carriage style would be really nice.
Looks like you have little or no lighting and I think it would be an asset both safety wise and visually. An added bonus would be an awning over the door for protection from the elements.
To create a more welcoming entrance, suggest a large planter to the right of the door, will also help break up the expanse of brick.
