One more trim question; rosettes and casing sizes?
Comments (8)The dimensions for the casings with 3 3/4" rosettes are correct. You want the rosettes larger than the casing. Rosettes usually overhang the casing by about 3/16" to 1/4" on each side. Be sure to place the rosette right in the corner of the top and vertical jamb. You don't leave any reveal or else the reveal created by the vertical casing won't be correct. I'm real good on design elements because I can see the whole finished look in my mind's eye. And I'm wondering if the room won't feel a tad bit overpowered by so much large molding. If I was doing it, I might be tempted to skip the crown molding, or chose a smaller crown----maybe a 2"????? Just an idea....See MoreNo more last minute travel, thanks to new TSA law
Comments (3)There will still be last minute flying. "If data is required 72 hours PRIOR to departure, does this mean travelers will no longer be able to book a flight for same day or next day travel? No. For reservations made prior to 72 hours before departure, airlines are required to transmit SFPD to TSA at approximately 72 hours before departure time. For reservations made within 72 hours of departure time, airlines are required to submit SFPD as soon as the reservation is made. Secure Flight is designed with the capability to perform matching for all flights, even next-day or same-day flights." Comments (34)If you wish to have children, its best to have them when you are younger, not older. Besides the biological clock ticking away, there are other pratical considerations. Suppose you are 25 yrs old when the first baby arrives; you'll be 43 when this child is a senior in high school. If you have 2 children 2 years apart, you'll be 45 when the last one is a senior. If you delay the first child for 10 more years, you'll begin the family when you are 35 and will be 55 when the second one is finishing high school. This is unconfortable too close to the retirement years. The second consideration is physical activity. When you are younger, the parents are better able to participate in sports with their children: For example: teaching to catch a ball, bike riding a trail, dancing, and swiming. From my own experience, my dad was 40 yrs old when I was born and he was "an old man" to me while I grew up. Due to normal wear and tear on the body with age and stiff joints, he found it difficult to play catch, etc. We did do many things side-by-side, but it was all work related. The advice about buying a house now is good. Home interest rates will never be lower, and there is an abundance of homes on the market right now. You can have a house and babies too, but it will take planning and adjusting your sights. You may find that you will need to begin with a "starter" house with hopes to later on, graduate to a larger house. You will have to adjust your travel budget. And finally, take a long hard look at your potential earning power over your lifetime to decide, can I afford a child? For the guys, do not dwell on this too much or you'll never be comfortable with the idea of a child in your life. Your income will grow in unexpected ways and sweat equity can lower the cost of owning a home. Learing to do home maintence can lower the cost of ownership and enhance your abilities....See MoreWatermelon Question: more than one plant together?
Comments (8)Texas has an interesting mix of soils and some that have produced crops like cotton extraordinarily well don't grow melons well at all. Lots of commercial growers where ground is favorable. Growers have tried starting transplants in order to have melons a week or two before competitors but it just doesn't work. Melons send out long roots to reach ample moisture and those roots are deformed by container. By the time container started plants recover from shock plants from seed that went in ground same day pass them and begin producing days earlier. On ideal soil plants grouped in 3s about 6" apart produce maximum pounds per acre. Even though weather is dry and hot (often 100f + for weeks) very little ground is irrigated (remember the long roots). I suggest you try a few hills direct seeded to compare with transplants. Good luck...See Morebbstx
