What to wear? (Leaving in one hour!)

We're going to a birthday party for a one-year old relative. I have no idea if it is indoors or outside. It is going to be 90 degrees. I'm currently wearing tailored shorts and a cute pink shirt with a crab on it. My shoes will be my pink and white canvas sperrys. Do I have to change to a dress?

Thanks!

ETA: only having second thoughts as my dh is wearing pants.

At first I was thinking it was common field bindweed, but my bindweed leaves don't have that prominent white veining on the leaves and they aren't really heart-shaped like the leaf in your photo. If it blooms, though, and it becomes apparent that it is bindweed, pull out every bit quickly before seeds form or you'll still be pulling it out 20 years from now. There are many, many forms of bindweed, though, and I am sure I haven't seen all of them. I'm inclined to agree with Dorothy's belief that it may be one of the vining milkweeds. Look at the link below and see if it strongly resembles your plant. Even if your vine is not identical to the one in the link, it may be similar enough that it helps you identify yours as one of the vining milkweeds. Since the ladybugs are there eating the aphids, they are a non-issue at this point. Lady bugs are great garden helpers and aphids are one of their favorite foods. Sounds like late blight, not a frequent occurance around here but becoming more common from what I hear. Your fruit descriptions sound like late blight as does the quick loss and the appearance of the tomatoes in the front left of the photo. Some close ups of the vines and any leaves that aren't completely goners might help confirm it, too. The east coast has had LOTS of late blight and other threads tell of big areas of loss. A bad year for tomatoes in many ways. Sorry to hear of your loss and sad to see more late blight in SW Michigan Glad you were able to harvest many already. We lost most all of ours two years ago just as they began ripening. Recently some of this year's plants are looking suspicious. I removed a few and hope the rest will be okay. The weather looks to be dry for awhile which may help. Areas not too far from here have warnings of possible frost for tonight.....way too early it seems. I'm near SE Grand Rapids. Where are you gardening?

Welllllllll I see a nurse Practitioner and I have never ever been as happy with my health care...For the first time in my life I feel I'm a partner in my own health care...I see someone that isn't embarrassed to whip out a computer and check the drug she is getting ready to prescribe me...Gosh her ego doesn't keep her from listening to what I have to say..somewhere along the line, no one told her that her patients were supposed to bow down and kiss her feet before she could discuss my health with me....OK i know this has nothing to do with the subject at hand but the comparison was made and I'm so tickled with my health care provider I'll stand up and fight for her...She is the best I have ever had ..so dont be so quick to rule out an alternative person...If that's what you choose, so be it but you can't make a blanket statement about every Optometrist or Optomologist etc etc etc This post was edited by ruthieg__tx on Wed, Jul 31, 13 at 16:58

Aspidistra (Cast Iron plant) leaves turning yellow one by one

I am delighted to announce that both the original aspidistra plant and the offshoot I planted in a different pot are exhibiting new growth. For the record, I put them in a north facing window where they receive light but not direct light, give them one cup of water every 12-13 days, and left them alone. It seems July is the growing season for these plants, because it is also around this time last year that they put out new leaves. As for your yellowing Sans2014, I'm not sure what's causing it but I did find a pretty good site here where they may answer your question: http://www.ourhouseplants.com/plants/aspidistra From reading that site, it seems your problem could be caused by too cold temps (unlikely in July), too frequent repotting, or most likely overwatering. I water mine every 12-13 days and this is in July in Las Vegas, where temps in my apartment can reach 90 if i turn the A/C off before going to work. If you leave in a cooler climate, I wouldn't water it more than every two weeks, maybe even less.

Do not change clothes. You will be the most comfortable and appropriately dressed, unless the 1 year old is in formal wear.

The main thing is that you have a present for the birthday baby. You should expect that a lot of photos/videos to be taken, and so there is that, but I think you have it covered.

We're back. The party was fun although the guest of honor was a bit crabby. Totally understandable as he really hasn't been around anyone other than his parents for his entire life! He was overwhelmed by the proximity of so many (20 or so,) people.

I went back and forth over what to get him--toy vs some heirloomy keepsake--and went with a toy garage and cars appropriate for his age. Kids love toys more than some fancy outfit or keepsake. Let his grandparents take care of that. We also got his almost-three-year old big brother some rescue vehicles for being such an awesome big brother. (Ok, we got him a present too, just because I thought he might not understand why he didn't get anything. Seems like everyone else had the same idea and came in carrying two presents.)

My outfit was just fine. Most people were in shorts and tees.

Thanks for the handholding at the 11th hour!

I was at a 1!yo party too. your outfit sounds cute. i had linen pants and a tunic and new shoes (expensive but should have broken them in.)
