engineered European white oak durability?

Hi! Was wondering if anyone had a lighter colored engineered hardwood European white oak colored flooring placed? I love the look of the light floor but am worried about scratches/marks appearing over time (in comparison to a darker brown floor where marks will blend but does not open the space as much). Will I regret putting in a lighter floor color? Picture of the exact color I’d like to put in.

I don't agree but I need to see your space as for light floors showing scratches IMO if the finish is a clear one with no stain on the wood scratches are unlikely to show at all. BTW floor color should be decided by your style not some fad that comes and goes and that includes black floors which can be the perfect answer in some spaces. European oak is a actually a much nicer oak than what is usually found in NA it is tighter grained and just plain nicer.

I love our white oak floors. They are light and easy to clean. They have a matte finish. Yes there are small dings and scratches but we have three kids and a dog so it’s exactly as I expected. Our previous floor was quite dark and it showed everything and it’s wasn’t good.

I think they make a high quality product but before committing to an oil finished floor you should research how they are maintained and how often they need attention from end users or from the people who actually have to do the maintenance.

That was a great video. We installed solid natural hickory 6 years ago in the living room. dining room. kitchen & hallway of our ranch house. Hickory is hard, but the scratches appear mainly in the finish & not the wood itself. Ours is a moderately grained hickory, neither clear or extremely rustic. We have many scratches from a 40 lb. dog whose nails are not kept short, but most scratches are in the walkway & kitchen where we wear semi clean, but outdoor shoes! That being said, if you look over the floor after 6 years, it is still beautiful & I love it. When I clean it, I can see every scratch, because I know where they are. There are many scratches around the island area of our kitchen, I believe from prepping there a moving back & forth etc. If you walked in my house, I don't believe you would see an extremely scratched floor, but I do at times. The hickory went well with our ranch house. I would never give up my wood floor. Just wanted to agree with the video, you will get scratches. No wood will not scratch. It really depends on what you are looking for in a floor & to me, wood is the best!

This is what we used on our basement floor and we were thrilled with the product. We have a hyper large dog who scratches the heck out of our real hardwood floors but she hasn’t made a dent in these. The floors in your photo look really pink. I wouldn't like that color as a design element to have to work around.

Durability of a floor isn't just about the color, but the quality level of the product, which has a really wide range when it comes to engineered floors. Choose wisely!

The natural colour of European Oak is a soft butter yellow with STRONG gray and GREEN undertones. I think it is one of the nicest oaks we have...but the white wash is going to hide the expensive part of the purchase - the European Oak.

If you want a white wash floor, then go with regular white oak (N. American wood). It does the same thing for about half the price. And to be clear, MOST European Oak floors that are BUDGET FRIENDLY (less than $12/sf) are out of CHINA.

It is isn't the white wash that is an issue. Those floors are going to be fine. It is the price tag that I worry about AND the availability. The US and China are having a MASSIVE spat right now. Getting Chinese wood products into USA/Canada takes HUGE amounts of time and huge amounts of new tariffs being added DAILY. What you were quoted for price on Thursday will be very different when you pay for it on Monday.

I agree with chispa. The floors in the photo don't look good with the white cabinetry.
