Ha! I was just about to head out the door and saw this. :D

Our two are inside-only kitties and NOC 1 is in and out, while NOC 2 is always outside. We did make her stay in during that winter storm, but otherwise she’s too wild to be inside normally.

They have lots of shady places and I keep fresh water out always. They’ve never exhibited any signs of overheating, even when temps are 110 and up. They love wet mulch, so I have a shady spot I spray for them daily. :)

When we had barn cats, same thing — they found cool spots to nap in. I think there was only one time we had one start panting … had the vet check her out, she had gotten dehydrated. Recovered fine.

ETA: Leaving to go get my hair done — yay! — will check in later.

I think providing a cold stone (just a couple of pavers or something) in a deeply shaded spot that kitty likes would be fine.

Our former black kitty would love to go under the deck in the shade on the cool ground. He was only outside when we'd supervise him.

It's hot here and my cats are indoor only. I just snapped Zephyr snoozing. It would be cooler directly on the counter, but he found the cutting board more compelling.

ETA: That naughty Cuisinart toaster is spending its last day in service. The Breville is due later today.

Jinx, you really do own two cats that aren't yours? In your pictures I always see two together whether inside or out. None of my cats sleep together, maybe because we didn't get them as siblings. Raven is the one who jumped off the UPS truck on Valentines Day one year.

I want Zephyr! What a handsome cat. When Raven cools off outside she lays on the shaded part of the porch with fresh water nearby. Sometimes I'll find her in my Clematis jungle where it's moist but that's usually because she's waiting for a Lizard.

Age has a lot to do with it I think. She's around 8 and never did this before, and I remember all of our elderly cats in the past and currently one who is 12 likes to lay on top of the dryer when it's running.

Oakley, yes the Tabby and Tortie are from next door, but we share custody. As soon as we moved in, they came over and never left. :D

I had 3 cats that became inseperaple. Only two were related to each other... and were 5 years younger than the 3rd. One of the youngest was clearly the dominant when it came to food. But they all slept together. I got them a dog sized bed when I realized this.

Unfortunately, I only have the oldest left - she's now 19.5 years old. She was bereft when the last of the other two died. So now she sleeps with me... and yowls something fierce if I don't want to go back to bed after her breakfast!

None of mine have been outdoor since the 1990s, but I'd make sure there are shady places, and provide cold water often.

In all seriousness Bunny, if one more cat shows up at my house I'm going to scream. Two at a time is my limit until the four I have now showed up one at a time as older kittens. Two were in heat.

Artemis, that's funny! I'd probably grab a cup of coffee and my iPad and go back to bed.

Outside with Minka again on THEIR chaise. Look at the hairy cushion! We can’t even use it now! We had a bird feeder by the Vitex beyond, had to take it down because they were using the chaise as a launching pad.

Saw our neighbor out front the other day, said hi, he says, ”Hi, Conner’s co-owner!” I said, if you need him, he’s in there asleep on my bed. He cracked up. 😆

Indoor only cats with air conditioning here.

Years ago, when I lived in a place that didn't have air conditioning, my very elderly cat was clearly not doing well in the heat. I ran to the kitchen, took everything off the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, and put the cat on the shelf on a towel. Door open, of course! He cooled off and lived for several more years. (I bought a window air conditioner.) When I told a vet about it, she said that most people probably wouldn't have thought of the refrigerator and it almost certainly saved his life.

So if you every have an overheated cat (or dog), consider the refrigerator until you can get medical help.
