Thanks all! I did go back to the store and have them mess with the color a bit. I think I'm going to like the new color better (I did a quick test splotch) but I don't think I'm going to have enough for a full second coat. I'm actually using this in 2 different rooms so I'll probably use what I have left in one room and figure something out for the other. Sorry it took me so long to respond -- gardenweb was giving me guff when I tried to log in.

Showed all the comments to my hubby as well to convince him ;) At the warehouse now... just found out slab #3 (light gray and white) has a "smiley face" crack on it :/ I'll have to see if the fabricator can work around it. The "super white" looks super gray here. The frosty carrina looks great but still a little expensive for us :( Aprilneverends-You're so right about the movement on the cabinets! We had painted over builder's oak. That is a big factor that I'm considering when picking the movement on the countertop Aboxofcrayons-I love your cabinets! Is it the distressed wood look? I would love to see your kitchen once the countertops are installed! Oldbat2be- I have laminate right now and there are few burn spots on it too. I'm dying for something new, glossy, and durable :) Torreykm-We had our cabinets painted with a gray stain. I originally wanted a distressed wood or driftwood look. Our GC ended up painting it! We just left it then lol. I can find out which color and brand we used and I can post it here when I get back home :) I'll keep you guys posted! Thanks so much again!!!

And if you haven't seen it, my kitchen is green and white. I have a very busy quartzite. As a full slab it looks almost overwhelming but once on a horizontal surface, it calms down quite a bit without overwhelming the rest of the kitchen. Also I have lots of reds, oranges, peaches and purples in mine too but once it's all down, it doesn't override the greens. If I hadn't seen my slabs, I probably would have picked something like that last slab you showed. It's stunning.

The actual color temperature, in terms of Kelvins, of the lighting doesn't matter as much as the CRI - color rendering index rating. You want a high CRI. At least 85 closer to 90 is better. It should be noted on the box. Lots of chatter on this forum about 3500K, 4000K, etc. - Kelvins mean nothing without CRI. Light French Gray belongs to the yellow hue family and it's a near neutral gray. We know that near neutrals from this hue family neighborhood can shift and look purple, purple-blue, blue-ish. I think you can make it look less blue with a good lighting plan with excellent CRI as the focus. Also, throw a lot of white at that room. Decor, accessories, etc. Last, it's not such a crazy idea to paint the walls the same color - just in a different, more matte finish than the cabinets. Because lowering the contrast could help it read less blue.
