Rounding the curve on peak

Still a lot of clumps blooming and some mid/late beginning to bloom but peak is now on the wane. For the dark colors, cooler night temps have deepened their color.

I finally found out that, to get a good bloom on Indian Giver you have to have 25 inches of rain in two weeks. It has never looked this good.

Showed this one before but this trio was stunning in real time -except for the hole in one of the petals. Song of Promise

Oh Wow, your garden is beautiful. Hard for me to imagine anything that lush could exist in CA. Where are you located? Love the iris photo. I wish it was my screen saver. Just curious, how long have you been working on this beautiful space? Labor of love over time? Avid gardener, changing, adding or moving plants often? Is it a full time job keeping your garden in such fabulous shape? I'm new to this board, but I hope you aren't and that you post pictures often. Thanks for sharing!

Nat - In the first pic, there are two siblings fromt the cross Precious Candy X Twilight Illusion. The flower on the top right is the sibling to the other four blooms which are on the other plant. Both of the Precious Candy kids are four years old. During the drought year, two years ago, they did not increase at all. Last year the one with 11 fans more than doubled its fans. Debra

Debra: I have a Canon EF Lens EF70-300 F4-5.6 IS USM lens on the Canon Rebel XT EOS. I don't know what all the numbers and stuff means as my husband bought the camera several years ago and it was just sitting in the bag so of course I had to try it out and I've been hooked since.It does gets heavy when the bigger lens is on it and thank goodness for the IS. I find the one thing I'm still having a learning curve on is with getting all the blooms in focus, ie, INCA PUZZLE and WINTER TREASURE pics would have been much better if the bloom farthest away could have been in focus. I assume I should have switched to manual instead of leaving on auto. Thanks all for the comments. I'm anxiously awaiting the rest of the daylilies to bloom and I'm still hunting down the hummingbird and not the moth this time. LOL. Julia

Thanks guys....Im hoping the kitchen guys can finish things next week. I guess one of problems with public forums is that they lack the ability of a person to control others...be it in the form of what others say, post, how they comment, or what they choose to say. While I realize my comment on size was not phrased in a more sophisticated manner, it stemmed more from not having a lot of cabinets and a smaller pantry...not the actual physical size, though that too is relative. It may not have come out that way, and for that my deepest apologies. The point, as the picture shows, was to display a unique kitchen. Not to make anyone feel insecure about their kitchen size or whatever else my statement may have caused anyone to feel. I have lurked for years, and have read plenty of threads where someone said something, and people picked them part and force them back into being a lurker because they said something, or didn't say something according to someone's standard or their opinion. I posted the picture because its been a work in progress for so long, and I wanted to contribute back to the wonderful people of gardenweb. I, as many others have, come to this forum for ideas, planning/design, and learning from people's mistakes or success stories. For those who take strides of udder perfection, I tip my hat to you. I am as fault riddled as my posts. The fact that, for some people, my pictures were overshadowed by a sentence shows that. For all the others who over looked my lack of eloquence, and we able to focus on the eye candy, thanks so much!! You are the reason I post however infrequently as I do! Though I will say, the fact that my post inspired another thread makes me feel like I contributed doubly!! Did I say that right? :)

'You really outdid yourself with that picture of Indian Giver. It was one of my first daylilies. It did not do well for me for a reason I now forget (probably colorfast problem) so it left. It really is gorgeous for you this year...........I almost got Substantial Evidence partly due to your pictures, but I ran out of room. I really like that flat wide petaled form. The uncertain color I've seen on the database however was one of the reasons I passed on it (for now).............. At Sunset and Lidia's Regal Robes are my other two picks. How colorfast is Lidia for you?......... A very nice group.................Maryl

Maryl, those pictures of Substantial Evidence bounce around in the database, dont they?!! I like the broad flat surface and will be interested in future bloom looks.

I went out at 5:00 to take an afternoon pucture of Lydia. It is in full sun all day and loses its dark color of course.

Lovely group Kate. Your pic of Song Of Promise is so pretty in the cascading trio. Magic Of Oz was always a favorite in my old garden. It can show differently each year but always bloomed even after the deer chewed the foliage down to nubs one spring.

What a beautiful post! So many pretties! My favorites are Ashville White Winged Dove, Royal Girls and Blackberry Dragon. Born in California is looking good. I keep forgetting to photograph mine. Lydia's Regal Robe is another one I grow, but it's late blooming this year for some reason.

Julia, I am glad you mentioned that about Magic of Oz. I thought it looked differently this year!

Debra, Lydia just began blooming yesterday so yours probably won’t br far behind. Born in California finally showed the edging you always capture on yours!

Indian giver left my house due to poor performance too. Given that lovely photo, I just needed, what was it? 25 inches of rain a week to get a beauty like that, huh, Kate? Love the Garden Butterfly photo. That one has such pretty blooms. Song of Promise is a beauty, and a nice clump shot of Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. Your white NOID is very pretty too.

It's so hard to believe you are starting to go past peak. I am barely started and I'm so behind in seeing everyone's flowers I've hardly seen any of yours. Gotta get caught up.

There are so many beauties posted here. A few faves: Garden Butterfly [that is a great shot!], Indian Giver does indeed look awesome!, and Blackberry Dragon.

Kate can I ask what you are using to take your pics? These shots are so llovely , crystal clear and colors just pop . My fave's are Indian Giver , Garden Butterfly, .I grow Substantial Evidence but have never seen a prettier image of it .

Asheville White Winged Dove is a lovely one. It is just starting blooming here. While quite well budded for a Selman, I am surprised that yours is still in bloom.
