A Wonderful Happening Today

Sunshine!!!! Apologies to those of you who need rain. Three days ago we had gotten over 20 inches of rain the past two weeks. Today that number must be close to 25.

Is the water still over my shoes? Is the grass so tall our house looks like no ones lives here? Am I sure I will never get the weeds and grass under control in my flower beds? Are some of my beds so muddy I can’t get in them? A resounding yes to all above. But this morning and for half a day (yes, more storms this afternoon!) I have sunshine and the daylilies are loving it.

Lady Dragon reached suitcase status its first year! I don’t think it ever bloomed less than 3 huge blooms

Yay sunshine! We finally have a sunny day after six overcast ones. What a fabulous post! I love all the photos. Dragon Lady and Creature of the Night are probably my top favorites. Fear Not is a pretty shade of red!

It really is fun to get involved with other people in fabric shops. I recently helped a lady pick a backing and binding for the wonderful quilt she had made for her granddaughter, that was very fun and rewarding. If you Google "woven quilts" you'll find a really cool book detailing technique, it's called "Simply Stunning Woven Quilts". I used her method to make a small mug rug, I wanted a tablecloth effect and it worked really well. Thanks to your photo and the other link posted, I now feel like weaving something else! Hey paradisi , I am a bit slow I should have thought of that yesterday but didn't. When I went out before to get a cutting of course the flower was gone after all. Hibiscus are here today and gone tomorrow........ What a shame....Cheers..MM.

Thank you, Debra. I avoided the one that I think may have set them off even though it is the name and I had a pretty photo of it. Next time, I will leave out letter. Exotic Starfish is such a pretty bloom and I do not intend to allow any of the newer ones to re-bloom this time. I lost a couple of plants last year and I think that may be why. Your new seedlings are so pretty, bot the lreds and that huge dark one....Taht one sets me to "vibrating and I will be adding it when you put it officially name and release it. kay.

I enjoy watching our neighbour, who pastures his sheep on our property at times, move them to a different location with the help of his border collies. The dogs are so well trained - all the neighbour does is a couple of different whistles and the collies know what to do. It reminds me of a well choreographed dance routine! When my goofie little dog is playing in the pasture - he will occasionally bark at the sheep, who then instantly form a huddle. He'll then look at me so proudly, not knowing that it's the sheep that are smart, not him!

I too pick Dragon Lady and Creature of the night as my favorite. You really got great pics of them. Rambunctious Rose caught my eye too, and Clown Parade.

Kate, such gorgeous blooms today! I had a hard time getting past Lady Dragon, Creature of the Night and Madam Secretary…..they are my favorites.

I’ll be honest here…. i have not had the heart to post many comments the past week or so…….I couldnt get past all of the rain comments…….my gardens are in drought conditions. I did check out everybodys lovely blooms.….Just hoping for better conditions for everyone.

Debra and Nancy, Lady Dragon is rapidly moving up the list of favorites. It was such a puny fan last fall I never dreamed it would flourish like this! Creature of the Night was gloriously dark this morning but will obviously fade in this heat and humidity.

Sherry, I am so sorry about your drought. I hate to whine about all this rain when others need it so much. There never seems to be a happy middle. 25 inches is too much for ground to absorb and I have lost 3 of my new lilies to rot. Others are standing in water and may be at risk. So I do really wish you could have some of this. Of course I will see hot dry weather later but right now this drought is probably impacting your blooms. Hope you get relief soon.

I am so glad you finally got a break and got some drier photos. Your Dragon Lady is magnificent!. Thre Clown Parade clump is gorgeous, I truly like your Creature of the Night. Mount Herman Autumn is such a nice color. Fear Not always looks so good. Nice post, Kate.

Beautiful group! Lady Dragon is wonderful and I really like Creature of the Night. I love the bitones so I am always drawn to Clown Parade and Fear Not.

I hope you dry out soon (but not too much). Here we either have too much or not enough rain.

Thanks Kay! Lady Dragon has been epectacular this season. Amazing since I fully expected it to die after I got it!! Creature of the Night is dark early morning and fades in our heat but I love that early morning look!

Nancy, you are so right! We never seem to have just the weather we want, do we?
