We are doing a kitchen remodeling.

we are planning to buy counter depth French door refrigerator as it a small kitchen.

With existing plan , the new refrigerator will hit the kitchen door trim while we open the refrigerator.

So we are planning to move it next to pantry.

What do you all suggest? Is there anything I need to be aware while doing it?
Please help

Note:

No issue with existing water line as it’s near the middle cabinet in existing kitchen.

How deep is the pantry? Just make sure the CD fridge doors will sit proud of the pantry, or you'll have the same problem you do now.

Honestly without knowing anything about your plans I am not even sure that is the best place for the fridge let alone how to install it properly . Are you replacing those cabinets becuase IMO spending any money without replacing those is just wasted .I need to see the plan because what you have now IMO is really poorly layed out .

I really like what you've decided on! I also agree...you're right on the refrigerator location for all the reasons others have stated. I also like the idea of extending the cabinets to the bench...it forms a sort of window seat that way. You could put pillows on the cabinet end and sit w/your feet up in front of the window. You get both a banquette & window seat! To the right of the refrigerator I would suggest adding a Message Center for mail, phone, etc. It's the spot everyone will be walking by for a mail/key drop, a central location for the phone (near kitchen/DR/LR), & a charging station. To me, it's an ideal location for charging cell phones b/c you walk by it on the way out, get your keys, and "oops, can't forget the cell phone!" I have to put mine where I practically stumble over it in order to remember it (which is why I will never have a hidden charging station!) You could put a calendar in a shallow upper cabinet there or have a regular upper cabinet and put the calender inside the door or on the outside wall facing the doorway. Everything looks great! eam44 - I've never had wall ovens, nor do I care much. A stove (induction!!) is fine. The only appealing point is that one of them could be a microwave and it wouldn't be over the range. In our current kitchen, which we renovated 3+ years ago, we have a pantry no bigger than the one in the photo which has been a huge improvement over having none. current kitchen in Finished Kitchens blog Maybe I could plan for a spot for the microwave along the back wall - that's an idea. Electric is no problem as the backside of the fridge wall is a hall closet which contains the electric sub-panel for the house. I don't think that wall to the right is structural, I think it's just a stub to define the space. Have you got an idea for that? I was just thinking how unappealing it was. funkycamper - do you remember that TV ad from the 70s (?) where someone opens the fridge and all the ping-pong balls fall out? If you're too young for that, the point was not to waste energy, the ping-pong balls being the energy. I've found that if someone is standing by waiting for the fridge door to close, that is the person you can hand out the goods to. ;-) Good question on the 2 sinks. I'm thinking about it. Floor plan: coming soon. Tomorrow the local realtor is coming make plans to put this house on the market. My kitchen peninsula is covered with a quilt that isn't quite finished, and, really, I've got to get that out of there. This means I need to finish it today. So back to work and a delay on the floor plan. [The new house is 400+ miles away and out of escrow on June 16th. The sellers were really motivated to sell at a better price due to the short escrow. Yikes!]

This is the cart before the horse thing. It is impossible to design akitchen with no parameters at all. You need an architect and a kitchen designer that work together. As for fridge and freezer columns a lot depends on how you cook I have them in my home and in my kitchen they are on one side of the island and my range is on the other side because my husband does the prep and I do the cooking we have back to back sinks in the island. I also run a small catering biz from my kitchen so this layout allow more people to work together.

Hi my refrigerator depth excluding doors and with 2 inch gap behind is 261/8 “. Pantry depth 26”.

Patricia Colwell Consulting we are gutting out entire kitchen cabinets and replacing with new custom built cabinets. When doing that we first thought of going with existing floor plan . But we are about to sign contract and bought a new French door refrigerator .I have attached the existing floor plan.

If getting new cabinets, STRONGLY suggest drawer base cabinets (not pull-out shelves behind doors). They are FAR more functional.

What are the cons for roll out .Because now the cabinet maker suggested roll out shelves which I can adjust .

Roll out shelves are better than base cabinets but not nearly as good as individual drawers. With a pull out you have to open doors and then pull the shelf out with a drawer you eliminate the need to open the door. I have one double cabinet of roll out shelves and the rest are drawers. I have a huge dislike for the roll out shelves as they are so inconvenient.

Strong recommendation to tear out that walled out pantry. You are losing so much storage space with the framing around it. Do a large pantry cabinet with roll outs or a whole roll out pantry cabinet.

You are probably going to have issues with that left door on the french door fridge, unless you have a big enough filler to stop the door from hitting that doorway edge.

I agree with the above comment on removing the pantry walls. Building pantry cabinets surrounding the fridge will avoid any issues with door swing. The other side of the kitchen doesn’t seem to have a ton of storage, so maximizing storage where you can will really help.

Yes, you will have increased cost from demolition and the cost of the pantry cabinet ... but it makes much better use of the space.

You don't have a clear photo, but it looks like that pantry isn't even a full wall, so no danger of it being a load bearing wall. You could demo yourself to save some costs.
