IMO the charcola is the wrong choice to begin with I would not ever like blue shades with brick and the charcola is IMO too dark. As for trim I would do it the same as the siding since the white is too strak and does not connect with the brick either. I like this color with brick and I like the way all the trim and siding are the same

I have to disagree with the statement that blue does not go with brick but thanks for your opinion!

I’m not a fan of charcoal colors but that aside, the all-charcoal is too forbidding, especially on the garage. The white doesn’t seem right either. If I inherited a charcoal house with white window trim, sitting on brick with raw wood door and porch posts, and if I didn’t have the money to paint the whole house, I’d look to pick up one of the lighter tones in the brick or in the wood to do the trim in that. Could be a kind of syrup color, or toasted nut, or copper? I don’t know.

I hope you will keep a garage door with windows, since I think a solid door doesn’t help the house. And if you plan to keep the window boxes, buy a longer one for your biggest window.

I’m trying to figure out what the problem is. There is an ash-y quality to the blue I don’t think works for your house because you don’t have as many places to put white as your inspiration photos — plus they are more colonial and less modern ranch than yours in style, and you have a brown roof, and they don’t.

I keep loooking for somewhere to put more white on your house if you are going to go with charcoal blue, or get rid of the white.

Are your door and your porch posts going to be left unpainted? Is it pine wood? What tone is it?

I think your house in blue might work better if the door and the posts and trim were buff or beige rather than white or unpainted wood. And I am also wondering if you should do a mock up where you paint the underside of your overhang a buff color (treat it like trim). Part of the problem is that your brick and blue are 2 colors, and limiting yourself to 3 would be best. But you’ve added 2 – the door/porch posts + the white trim.

If you are in love with the raw wood look, then I would play around with the idea of getting a raw wood garage door, and maybe even raw wood sliding barn shutters for the windows… I’d be looking at these ideas on mock ups — maybe they wouldn’t work.

And if I were to make a guess, I think Charcoal blue wont' look as dark as your mockup but I think that it will look lovely.

What does everyone think about taking out any wood accents and going all white everything?

I confess i like it better but wonder “what if” the garage door trim was not white and if the garage door had windows like before. i prefer a front door without an oval glass inset for your house.

Just a few practicality questions:

1. Do you live in a cold climate? Dark colors absorb heat and may drive Utility Bills.

2. Is your siding Vinyl? If so Is the color you selected okay for light vinyl?

I like the white trim with the wood accents. I love the blue you chose. The brick looks just fine with that color and I think it updates the house well.

I also like the blue. I think the garage trim should be the same as the siding and the garage door. (BTW, I'm assuming the windowed garage doors are staying and you just didn't want to "paint" them in the visualizer?)

I'd also like to see it with blue fascia and blue garage door trim, but white windows and columns. I think you could pull off a colored door then, maybe something in some green shade?

I think if you had both wood garage and front doors, you might be able to pull off the wood columns. I was wondering if you used tan for window trim if you could pull those off. I don't generally like garage doors painted in a different color, but was curious about tan windows, garage door and the wood columns, with maybe a lighter shade of your blue for the front door.

The garage windows are actually painted on! I did it several years ago. They look real and i think i’ll paint them on again once I paint the door!
