Using Weed B Gone
Comments (1)Does it specifically say it's safe to use on St. Augustine? If so, you can do it on calm day whenever you get a chance. High winds can carry weed killer onto your plants or neighbor's plants and cause damage. Be very careful with it. I've never had to use it on st augustine though. All I had to do was mow high and water only if needed. Weed seeds need light and constant moisture to germinate so that's how I control them for the most part....See MoreOrtho weed b gone max
Comments (6)Don't know your region, but 3 years ago our 20,000 sf lawn of mostly KBG, in southern New England, was infested with ground ivy - or Creeping Charlie. After some research I found that WBG was the best remedy. I followed the label directions and applied with an Ortho Dial'N Spray applicator. If I recall correctly, the mix ratio is 2 oz. per gallon per 500 sf. I bought the gallon concentrate and broadcasted the application in divided quadrants of 5,000 sf. The best time to apply is when the weeds are flowering, or as was my situation, just about now. I must say, it did the trick and killed about 85-90% of all the weeds, even clover. Problem with ground ivy though, is it comes back. I've noticed it's spreading again but have been reluctant to reapply the chemicals, due to our large organic vegetable gardens, located in the middle of the rear lawn. I'm sure other, more knowledgeable posters, will provide better feedback, but in my experience it did work - by following label directions....See Moreweed b gone via tank sprayer
Comments (11)johnuch, I know my advice was just "baby bear" (not too hot, not too cold, but juusssstt riighttt) but it sounds like you did it right. Yes, clover can be difficult. See what the package says about when you can follow up with another spray and do that: it is harder to kill clover now than in the fall, so you will probably need more than one spraying, at the "baby bear rate" each time. ;-) Keep hitting it at the recommended intervals until it is gone....See MoreOrtho Weed-B-Gone vs. Bonide Weed Beater
Comments (2)1. Which is best will depend on what weeds you want to kill. 2. Without seeing / knowing the active ingredients in the Bonide, it's kind of hard for me/us to make any comparison....See Morebeesandblues88_z7a
