Can we get away with 40 watts above our vanity mirrors?

Hi there,

We are putting in a primary bathroom that is about 9' x 10'. We have two recessed lights above our double shower, but the only other lighting in the room will be two sconces above our double vanity mirrors. We are trying to figure out how many watts would be ideal per sconce. We fell in love with some sconces, but they only take 40 watts of light each. We think this might be low without an overhead light (other than in our shower.) My husband is wondering if we can use LED bulbs to produce more light while technically staying within 40 watts. Any thoughts?
