    got 9

1, 4 and 6 are giving me trouble, but in the case of 1, that may be because at first glance, I can't quite make out what the bolded text is....

  • foodonastump

    Only missing #4.

Well, I was thinking of something off the bat for #2, but then second guessed. And i just looked at #3 again, got the word out of my head that i had at first, and now i think i have it.

    Ooh, i think i have #4!

And now that I’m on the tablet screen, not the phone, i can see what that is on #1, and i got it!

I have several ideas for #4 - the rest are reasonably easy.

For #1, the bold isn't text, as in letters. It's an image.

  • Rusty

Apparently my brain is taking a vacation again today, having trouble with 1, 3, 4, and 5. The rest are easy. It would probably help if I could tell what the image in #1 is, but I can't. Maybe another cup of coffee and looking at something else for awhile will help.

    I think I just got #4. I think.

Question for jasdip so DON’T READ IF YOU DONT WANT A HINT is there a punctuation mark in the third word?

FOAS, are you talking about #4, since you're not sure on that one.?.........(yes)

  • blfenton

Just missing 4 and 6. I might need that second cup of coffee.

    #4 has me stumped.

Hopefully it will come to me...

    P.S. #6 is quite literal.

  • patriciae_gw

All but #4. I am nowhere on that one.

  • lettersatoz

If 6 is literal, then it's a phrase I'm unfamiliar with....which makes me feel better!

  • carolb_w_fl_coastal_9b

Think of Jack Horner - or is that TMI?

  • blfenton

There is a phrase that has the two things pictured in #4 in it, I'm just not sure that it describes the phrase properly. I guess that will be my answer though.

  • Rusty

    Okay, I give up. Any hints for 1, 3, 4, and 5?

    Rusty

HINTS FOR RUSTY that’s ribbo!, spend as few as you can, the ones are part of the ”picture”, using kids talk you might not get censored.

(I purposely try to be vague but hopefilly helpful)

    I think I got all but 3 and 4.

I thought the last puzzle was so easy and got everyone but one at a glance. This one has me stumped and nothing comes immediately. I can't figure out the symbol in 1.

  • Rusty

Thanks, FOAS, that helps. I think. At least I have a couple of ideas now. Still nothing I'm sure of.

Lily - Read Jasdip’s comment about #1. It’s outside of the patterns we’re used to.

  • OutsidePlaying

I am also stumped by #3 and 4 and im sure I will be kicking myself when i see the answers.

Rusty, for #5 think in terms of plurals. For #1 it’s tied.

  • foodonastump

Suddenly I’m questioning my answer to 3. I might be overthinking it though.

  • Rusty

#5 hit me all of a sudden while I was getting dressed this morning, don't know why I was so stumped yesterday, So now I'm down to just 3 & 4 being kind of iffy for me.

3 is easy if you're frugal!

  • Rusty

Jasdip, that makes me think one of my ideas for #3 could be right. . . . . .

Well, some came to me but am having trouble with 1,5,7,9,10

Lily, for number 5, what do you see? Just say it. Don’t overthink it by counting or anything complicated like that, juat say what you see. Now careful as you kick yourself. 🤣

  • blfenton

Re #5 And the shape and the number of each doesn't matter. Just say what you see.

  • lily316

I am incredibly stupid on 5 . I do what you say and nothing. However, number 1 came to me when I was there.

  • Jasdip

#4 is what happens after a possible tragedy.

  • foodonastump

And storks are what happen after #5.

  • bpath

Ah, NOW I get 4. I had something different. it would be a good puzzle with a small addition to the image.

  • lily316

I had 4 but with all the hints I still don't get 5. I am so dumb sometimes.

  • patriciae_gw

I would put that the other way round # 5 is what causes the stork to come.

I still dont have something I am comfortable with for #4

  • lily316

I have them all but 5 and I will never get that one.

In #4, are those upside-down, backward ONES?.....The only way I get a satisfactory meaning from #4 is if I interpret those ONES as FEET.

  • carolb_w_fl_coastal_9b

Yeah - I've kind of given up on #4. And are those number ones or not? I hadn't considered that until now.

And #5 is plurals, if that helps.

  • blfenton

    I can't get #4 either. The things underneath look like upside/backwards #1's

  • lily316

People can give me clue after clue for 5 and I can't get it.

  • foodonastump

Lily, what do you see in box #5? Type it, maybe it’ll help.

  • matthias_lang

Oh well, I've decided on an answer for #4, but it relies on changing the way these puzzles have previously worked. It does match with something one (ahem) would eventually get to after a tragedy.

  • foodonastump

Yes, and #1 strays from our familiar patterns as well.

    It's time, kids.

    1. A bundle of nerves

    2. small potatoes

    3.Pinching pennies

    4. Back on one's feet

    5. Birds and the bees

    6. Finger in the pie

    7. One in a million

    8. Grey matter

    9. Too funny for words

    10. Not worth a red cent

  • lily316

Okay, I do feel stupid about 5. I said Penny pincher for 3 and Jack Horner for 6.

  • patriciae_gw

I was never going to get #4.

  • OutsidePlaying

#4 still stumps me. Feet? Where are the feet?

Yep, didnt see ’pinching’ in #3 so kicking p myself on that one.

  • carolb_w_fl_coastal_9b

    Feet made from ones (one's).

Argh - that's too clever for me, I guess! 😄

  • Rusty

I couldn't get #4, either, even with the clues, which I realize now that I know the answer, were pretty good clues. I could imagine those marks as check marks, fish hooks, half arrows. It took a comment here to make me see them as upside down ones, and I still struggle to see them as feet.

Oh well, I did (FINALLY!) get the rest of them, though, so there is that. . . . . . .

    Rusty

  • blfenton

I never did get #4 either. I had trouble with #6 as I've heard the expression a finger in lots of pies so I would have gotten it had there been an S on the end of pie. But still. these do get my brain working in a myriad of ways.
