Garden Updates w/Pics
Comments (10)tlowery04 & esox07...the plastic I use I purchased from Wally World in the paint section. It is sold as plastic sheeting and is 4mil. It is 20'x25' for $25. They have some 6mil stuff there, but it is only like 15'x20'. I pieced it together last year using the 6mil, but noticed no difference between it and the 4mil. I replace it every year anyways. The kids somehow manage to put a hold in it every year and all it takes is a small hole and some wind and you have yourselves and tore up greenhouse! gardengal...I learned my lesson with how hot it gets in the greenhouse during the day. If you follow my blog at all, you can see how I changed the design of the greenhouse. I put a 2ft sidewall on it and once it gets warmer, I will attach windows of some sort all around the bottom 2ft of the sidewalls. This will allow adequate air flow keeping it cooler. I have a window and door that stays open, but even then, it managed to get 110+ in there without a problem. I am hoping I have solved the cooling issue in the greenhouse. I use mini Christmas lights as heat mats. They are a great cheap alternative to heating mats. I only use them on my seedings. Once most of the tray sprouts, it is taken off the lights and moved onto the rack under the lights. I have plenty of room in the basement for small starts, so I do not get real froggy about putting my seedlings in the greenhouse until the night time temps are above 50 degrees or so. Definitely excited about this years garden! Here is a link that might be useful: The Pepper Guy's Blog...See MoreBathroom remodel??
Comments (4)As gmp3 said, some more specifics and/or pictures could be helpful. You could make some changes initially like stripping the wallpaper now. Other changes, like flooring may need to wait until you're ready to do a full remodel (depending on how you install the floor). If you do wait, what is your timeline until you are able to come back to do the full remodel you want? I am slowly remodeling rooms in my home, tackling the worst first. Until I remodel the room completely, I only tackle things I can carry over for the remodel. For example, I purchased new appliances when I needed to replace my old ones, knowing that I'll use them when I remodel the kitchen (floors, cabinets, counters, layout, etc). My master bathroom is tolerable but nothing to be proud of. But I will be leaving it as is until I can do a full remodel. Everything mostly works (broken vanity drawers, no sink stoppers, few cracked tiles, etc), and it isn't worth my time or money until I can do the full remodel....See Morea couple of updated photo's and question
Comments (13)I love the look of cabinets or shelving with a pretty color painted inside or wallpapered or covered in fabric in a nice pattern on the back. I was thinking.... rather than painting the back, which is kind of permanent, what about painting a thin sheet of mdf or some type of stiff paper the color you want, and cut it to fit? That way it's not too permanent and you can change it out if you want... my island is maple and we left the insides (including inside of doors) all natural....See MoreThe Dating Game--Living Room
Comments (24)You are an eagle eye to spot that pan fixture. The original fixture was a colonial revival bell that the wife cracked with her engagement ring a long time ago. They finally put up a bowl fixture that they Hated. It never hung straight and you could see the guts walking down the stairs. I replaced that one a few years ago with the pan...its also colonial revival, like the house and short enough to not be affected by the doorswing. --But it is kind of an anachronism, because it is a different period of "colonial revival"...See MoreElmer J Fudd
