Any ideas for my new deck (see my ugly deck here)
Comments (9)If your looking to not add on and just make it nice, I would: Resurface the cement or cover with some kind of tile mosiac. repair lattice and landscape around it to cover it. Wood if decent I'd restore and reseal, but build new railing wither with metal balusters or bench/planter. I can't see the rest of the yard nor what your budget is so its hard to say. It just looks like it needs some TLC which the above would not cost too much. Me, I went IPE and doubled size to 700 feet and droped a 500 gallon Hot Springs hot tub and had a custom wrought Iron rail made at 100 feet. I started off as a $4000 budget job but grew into a monster of a project long leaving that budget! The imagination is limitless but everyone has a budget! Comments (10)When you are ready to replace it, think about Azek Reserve for the railing. It's white and we like the look of it. We wanted low maintenance and went with a Gossen cellular PVC deck in cherry. We hose it down. Every few years we power wash. Just something to think about. We get the green mold and I didn't want to have to keep painting etc. You would not know that the railing wasn't wood. The deck looks doesn't look exactly like wood, but close enough....See Moreadvice on matching deck/railing/ceiling stain for pine and cedar
Comments (0)I am installing treated pine deck boards on our covered porch, columns (for railings) wrapped in cedar. and tongue and groove (I assume non-treated) as my porch ceiling. I know they won't look exact, but any suggestions on a semi-transparent stain that will tie them all together? Research tells me Penofin, Readyseal and TWP are good options. Any real world experience?...See Moretangerinedoor
