When I behead plants & pot up cutting, I start watering when roots start groowing. That is most often when new growth start appearing. So good you are not watering rootless cutting. Black scarrings coul be from the damage very young leaves had on them, often barely visible. If it is on brand new leaves that grew since, I would suspect a pest. Many are tiny & hard to see. Also when spraying with anything, plant should be kept out of direct sunlight. RA dries up fast, but I would keep plant out of direct sun for at least 5-8hrs. Some plants react to it very fast, here is one I damaged by spraying with RA...it has thin leaves: Damage like that doesn't get repaired, but new leaves will grow... Finally, could be a damage from too much light; all plants should be acclimated.

I never water my lawn and it never looks like that until mid August after going a good 3 months without any water or irrigation - this is a recurring summer drought area. And a lawn will not grow out a sunburn from scalping in just a week. It will grow out of it but it doesn't happen that fast.

I will take others knowlege that the red rose is not Dr. Huey. I think I was reacting to the fact that it looks semi-double, while the pink rose looks much more double. So, a sport would have to be a color sport and a "fewer petals" sport. I looked db up on HMF - I did not realize it was a miniature. That makes me think that hugogurll may have an idea - if it was already in a pot, did "they" just put 2 different roses in the pot? I have had that happen to me, when I planted a potted rose I was given as a hostess gift outdoors. It went along fine, and then when it was a few years old canes which produced different color blooms came up on one side of it. I thought it was a sport, but I liked it so I just left it. People on here who knew about the grower said that they put multiple roses in one pot all of the time, for roses which were sold potted and cheap at grocery stores, etc. They said those roses were not expected to last long, but it has been over 25 years, and my now mystery rose is still going strong. Here is was last Spring - the white blooms are the stranger, usually it is as this pic, with way more pink blooms. So, Meredith, maybe you got a "two-fer". Jackie
