Asko bosch or miele. All the others are Chinese made and not very well made (ge, frigidiare, whirlpool). Bosch SGE63E05UC is a good value as is the Asko D5424XLS. The miele will be the best overall but much more money. I believe it is now a G6360SCVi which you will have to buy a door panel for.

I replaced my 15 yr old kitchenaid DW with Bosch silence plus 44. It has a third rack for utensils which frees up a lot of space in the racks below. Super quiet. Can't even tell if it is running. Cleans and dries well. Has many different wash options (express= 30 mins, half load= uses less water, etc). Bought it at Lowes for about $850 with free install and delivery. Very happy with the purchase.

rococogurl, It is obvious that he is here to try to convince people to purchase cheaper units that will break quickly. If he is in fact a repairman, it makes sense, since these units are the ones that will break the most frequently and provide more business for him. His statement gives him away: "So if your Lowes appliance salesman meant "these days" as in these last 4 decades... he is correct. However a 2016 dishwasher will use 1/3 the water, 1/4 the electricity, be about 4-5 times quieter, and will get your dishes cleaner than the 1970's dishwasher." Several posters replied with their very different experiences because they didn't believe him either. I called him out on it because I perceived his posts to be a subtle hijack of the thread to cause me and others to go out and buy cheapo models at Lowes by injecting misinformation, including a link from Consumer Reports--and Consumer Reports is little more than a propaganda site for major brands that are revenue generators for service people. It's a really great gig they have going. A gig that I wanted to avoid contributing to. What I am looking for now is a commercial dishwasher that is commonly used in residential settings as well, similar to the way Speed Queen (which I am very happy with) is a commercial washer that is commonly used in residential, and therefore avoids either some of or all of the energy star requirements.

@HU-533768631, I purchased a Samsung set last fall from home depot and I installed all the appliances. The installation instructions for the dishwasher specificity states if the dishwasher isn't perfectly level the unit will leak. I spent the extra time to insure it was level and have no leaks and I wonder if your installer installed it wrong. Could be the fault of the installer and not the dishwasher. I hate the thing BTW. I do like my gas stove but the ice maker on the freezer door always plugs up but it freezes and cools good. I did complain to Samsung when they changed my delivery date 2 hours before delivery for a week later, and after I received confirmation the night before. I pulled out my old appliances and gave away the frig and dishwasher. Samsung said: So sorry, truck broke, no can help. I was so pissed I went to the home depot and they told me the same B.S. I demanded they call the transfer agent and when they did my appliances were sitting in their warehouse. They all lied, and I said I want them delivered the next day and they agreed. While I was gone my wife called Samsung and Home depot corporate and got the same B.S. But before I got home both companies called my wife back and told her the appliances will be delivered the next day. If all 5 appliances make it 3 years I will be surprised but with exception to the ice maker nothing serious yet.
