Hang in there. It might take a week or two. If they had 6-7 months hang time, they should be fine.

None of the edible varieties have a chance to survive your climate. With the right protection, they may survive the winter (almost anything can with the right protection!) but they need a nice, long growing season to make fruit. If you bring them inside every winter and plant them in the ground every spring, you will eventually get a banana plant to bloom and if it blooms early enough in the year, you can get some edible fruit too (most banana plants take about 6 months for their fruit to ripen, but it definitely varies on variety and weather). I'm growing ice cream, and saba as far as edible bananas go. Next year I'm going to try a few more to increase my chances of getting fruit one day. My Velutina banana is the only one that has ever fruited for me, but the fruits were more like seedpods because the bananas were so small (Velutina is an edible banana with viable seeds inside of it, but the seeds make it hard to actually enjoy what you're eating). -Alex

Hi Babalu My bunch of bananas is also from around September, but I guess we did not get as cold here because I still have leaves and the bananas are almost ripe. Yours will ripen, they pick them green for the stores after all and if they are fully developed in size they will be fine. My bananas today Silvia

I don't buy or stock bananas that often but i've read it is common to have some not ripen at all. We do really like them but we just can't use them up and end up with over-ripe. The price is right as Costco has them for very cheap. A big family it is the best for kids. If i do buy them i just buy 3 or 4 and let them ripen on a hook over the sink area. Never had them not ripen. Lucky i suppose. One idea is to pan-fry them up like plantains. I did not read further but google 'my bananas will not ripen' and you are not alone.
