droppy leaves and smelly soil. why?
Comments (17)In the 'North' plumerias don't really get going until June when the weather stabilizes and nights are really warm / days are hot. Until then they must not be watered too much. Also, a lot of moving the plant around can damage the roots as it's jiggling in the pot. You should probably feel way down into the pot with your finger to make sure the soil is drying out before you water again. Often there's more moisture way down than you realize. Also, I don't usually repot until the plant is really growing. All that new soil holds too much moisture. Cold nights are coming again, so don't leave it outside. I don't know where you live, but I would probably leave it in the greenhouse until late May or early June. Cold nights and cool rains can sometimes send the plant into shock. Leaves will drop, roots won't take up moisture, soil will stay too wet, roots rot. I just brought all my plants back inside because our nights are getting cold again! Comments (23)I like a shower curtain for its softness. In our previoius house, we purchased a clear glass door. It looked great and wasn't too hard to clean but we also sold the house just a few months after installing it--who knows what it looks like now after a few years. But also, a year or so ago I read an article by a guy who had his shower door shatter while he was naked and helpless. Tempered glass won't break from a direct impact on its broad side but what happens is if the track becomes worn/loose it can cause an edge impact, and then it will shatter easily. I know it is rare, but it scared the crap out of me! He stood in his shower surrounded by glass with no way out!! Yikes. I don't think a curtain necessarily makes a room feel smaller--here's our ceiling to floor shower curtain...helps make our small master bathroom feel grand :) Here is a link that might be useful: Ceiling to Floor Shower Curtain...See MoreMy new 2x2 tiled shower floor is making me cry
Comments (20)My brand new master shower does not have a pre sloped pan. They also had a very hard time sloping my mosiac tiles during install(long thin tiles). It looks/works fine now, please tell me it does not need to be redone... If it's new construction and does not meet code, I'd want it to meet code. You'll get a better shower and the installer will learn to follow code. Or you can leave it as is. You may not ever have problems...or you may have problems. The irony? I'm not a tile guy like Bill. Yet I still know code. Why do Bill and I know code? Simply because we're professionals. He in his field, me in mine. We didn't flunk out of cooking school, or get fired from our jobs at the factory, or flunk out of college, and decide as an alternative to set tile or build houses. And if we had flunked out of cooking school, that's cool...as long as we learn about our new job before we pick up a margin trowel and bust open a bag of thinset for the first time. I'd say close to 70% of people in construction build incorrectly. That's inexcusable. When I buy a new car I shouldn't have to learn about internal combustion engines and then visit the plant to make sure the line guys are building my car correctly. It shouldn't be that way in construction either. Sad. Getting off my soapbox so I can go decorate the Christmas tree, Mongo...See MoreSmelly water coming out from where the wall meets the wall in shower
Comments (15)Is the plumbing on an interior wall? Can you get at it from the wall on the other side? Easier to open up drywall than rip out tile. You probably have a leak in one of the pipes and/or your shower valve. Probably a small/slow leak that has been leaking for 4 years. If you don't have DIY skills to try to figure out the problem, then my first call would be to a plumber so they can find the leak....See Morecpartist
