Marvin Integrity Quote vs Andersen 100's
Comments (11)You're correct; I misspoke. I should have said "composite" window. The Andersens are made from a composite product called Fibrex, which is basically wood mixed with a resin-type material. From what I've read, it isn't as strong as the Ultrex fiberglass that Marvin uses, but I'm not sure if the Ultrex is $8500 more impressive. We don't want to go with the 400s because we don't want the maintenance with the wood portions of the windows. I looked over the two quotes closely this morning. The substantial difference is in the fixed glass (solid single pane) picture windows. The Integrity windows are more than double the price of the 100s for these fixed windows. For casements and other opening windows, the prices were not substantially different. I guess I'm not sure why these fixed windows are more than double the price? Thoughts??...See MoreSimonton daylight max vs Andersen 100 series vs Pella 350
Comments (4)Not really just what I have been told and read. I have been in the window and door industry for 30 plus year, strictly commercial the last 8 years and residential new construction before that primarily wood but I do know quite a few people in the vinyl window business....See MoreAndersen 100 series vs. 400 series casement windows
Comments (8)For a 32x62 the 400 would cost approximately $525, to vinyl wrap the interior would add about $10 and to paint would add about $25. The 100 would be about $425 for white on white. Savings would be about $2600- $3500, weather this cost is minimal would be mostly opinion. The 100 looks cleaner more modern in the inside , the 400 looks cleaner on the outside and less modern. The 100 has 2 layers of weatherstripping vs 1 on the 400 with exception another layer at the head. The hardware is different and hard to compare.The. U-values are about the same and I believe the 100 is tighter in air infiltration. Everything is based upon a visual inspection and pricing at Home Depot. If going with white interior I would seriously consider a nice vinyl window....See MorePly-Gem Pro Series 700 vs. Andersen 100 Series
Comments (17)I have used both extensively (over 200 remodels - most had window upgrades). We used Blk/Blk A 100's on our place in Sacramento, CA (can see pics of both in our profile - 45th St used A100, Quonset for the Ply Gems). I was a little disappointed in them, honestly. They looked great and made the design element pop, but the single-hung units felt cheap and less-sturdy than many of the Ply Gems and MI's I have used in the past. Now building houses in TX, and again considering A-100's vs Ply Gem 500's for a couple projects. Pricing is a huge factor (both have good warranties), but I have not had ANY leaking with either window....See Morelucieanna28
