What if you were to enclose the area into another closet (as said prior the vent is an easy fix). I'm big on keeping like items together. You could have the current season of clothing in the main area and your other up above. You would then have all your clothes in your room. FYI as long as you're redoing the area, you may want to consider having almost everything (not socks & undergarments) hung up. It's much, much, much (did I say much?) easier to get at your clothes if they are all hung up. If you've been to a store (like Costco etc.) looking for your right size only to have to dishevel the entire table looking for one, you get my picture. It may not be quite as hard in a dresser but it's still not like the ease of being able to see all your clothes on easy access display.

If you take out that one wall, there is still the issue of where to place the bed. Do you have measurements or a floor plan of the suite? I wonder...what if you actually extended the right-hand wall, and moved the doorway to the left? Then you could place the bed with the head against the wall. Or...how long is the wall between the bedroom door and the little niche? Is it long enough to be a doorway, and close up the existing doorway? From the way light falls, it looks like there is a door to another bedroom just to the left of the MBR door, is that right?

I used to be a sales consultant for a a California Closet-like company. Here’s a good trick to get that look on a shoestring budget. Get hollow core doors from habitat for humanity. They’re like 10 bucks each and you can cut them down to make a fancy looking closet system similar to the closet maid one pictured by the other commenter but without the drawers... I guess you could do drawers too, if you wanted to, but they are a lot more work. Basically you just need to rip the doors down to 14” and make several partition and shelves. When you rip the hollow core door down the back edge will be hollow, of course, so you’ll just need to fill it with a ripped down 2x4 (I think down to 1 1/4” or so). I recommend glue and screw the filler piece for sure. Paint the panels and shelves after you’ve cut them and before you assemble them. All the pre-finished edges of the door will become the front facing parts of your closet system and the filled in hollow parts go against the wall. You can fasten it to the wall with “cleats” that also tie two panels together. It’s midnight now but if you want I may be able to draw up a quick sketch for you tomorrow. You can probably get this closet decked out for about 60 bucks worth of doors and a little elbow grease. Should take about a day or two depending on your skill set. You might also see if the are any apartments or motels getting remodeled in your area, you can probably get the doors for free in that case.

-regular height. one never knows who might come for dinner)) regular height is more comfortable for most. versatile. and if can have an option to have a leaf or smth that makes it bigger/smaller-even better -backsplash..so many colors would work. Look at backsplashes. A lot. Then you'll see that some, you look at them more. You'll return to them, constantly. they'll make your heart skip a bit. Why? I don't know. Maybe you wont know. But that's what you should choose, as you have this lucky type of kitchen that affords so many colors, and patterns if you like them, and all. -love your multi colored throw..so pretty and upbeat -you didn't ask that..but do you think you'd like to put a plant, on a little table under the TV? will bring some more life to that corner, and cover (partially) the cords -your place doesn't read weird to me..very home-y somehow. I understand the thing with the dining, but you'll figure that out. What's in the corner where dog bed is...is there space to fit something at all there? Maybe go layers..
