How do I repurpose this dining area in an open concept room?
I bought a home with an open concept kitchen/living/family room. I have no desire for a dining room table in this area the kitchen already has a table that can seat 8 people.
The area I would like to repurpose is in the attached picture taken before we purchased the home. The area has the windows as well as double glass doors leading to an office. The picture is taken from the view of the living room. Next to the glass doors (where the white chest is in the pic), I put a repurposed TV armoire I turned into a liquor armoire.
What can I do with that dining area? Considered a pool table, but the glass doors and all those windows ruled that out! :)
I would really appreciate some ideas on what to do with this area. I can move/ remove chandelier if needed.

I know I sound like an idiot but obviously I am clueless as to this kind of stuff and wish my husband would just let me hire a decorator lol! Comments (10)hmmm, I dont want to sound rude, but, as a lighting person, it seems nutzo that you didnt change the lighting plan. I see you do use the fan which I understand. But that blaring can shining at the person siting at the head of the table........not good. and the one that is blaring down on the person that sits on the end of the sofa also not good. On top of that, who needs two can lights shining into the tv over the fire place?? Man who ever installed this should have brought these things to light (no pun intended.) I would add two more can lights and one light for over the dining table. Then I would replace the fan with one that has no lights and is all white or cream to blend away and be a touch on the modern side. My husband likes the cabinets but I thought about painting them black or grey, if I can't convince him it would be better to remove them completely.
