Batik iris in my garden

The purple and white Iris was given to me by a neighbor two years ago. It was striped. Last year it was AWOL. Not only did it show up last week---it has a bulb mate that is white with purple trim. I think I saw the purpley one with the name "Batik" at an online nursery. Whatever--both are beautiful. The iris to the left of the photo opened today and is a dark purple that I have had for some years.

This garden is about 2 -3 miles from my house. I am forced to go there regularly to gaze upon fabulous iris. It's a hard job but somone's gotta do it! :) I'm thinking about volunteering there in the iris garden to deadhead once a week during bloom season. You're right, her photos are lovely, and I haven't seen that unusual "Polish Princess." WOW!

It was probably a picture of yours that made me look for Blackalicious, Kay. Although it really stood out in the garden. There were other black iris, but that was bigger than any, & such nice substance. I saw someone's picture of Blueberry Filly, & remembered it being at the sale. Wasn't in bloom, but it is on my list now too. I meant to go back today for another look. There was one, such an unusual blue/periwinkle color, but the look of the petal itself was so attractive. I think it was Rhinelander, but I want to make sure I get that one :) The garden was really pretty Rita, although it really isn't huge. They actually have it in front of a local grade school. I guess the iris society takes care of it, it always looks really nice. I almost didn't notice Harvest Maiden, Renee. The only bloom stalk had fallen over & I was about to leave when I spotted it. Now I just have to find out when they set the actual sale date.

I also have Batik and it is a wonderful iris, very reliable and increases well for easy dividing amongst friends. In fact, my clump came from my uncle.

I do not know the name of the other one but it is pretty. If I stumble upon an ID, I will return with an update.

They like me! They really like me because the white iris returned. The purple striped ones returned too and brought 3 others with them. I could divide them later in the summer and not worry about killing off all of them.

Love the white one with the purple trim. If you ever decide to offer it for trade, let me know. The only fancy named iris I have is Frivolous, a bright intense yellow, but I have other pretty ones without names.

The white one is not multiplying or I would be out there digging it up already to trade for bright intense yellows.
