One more thing I forgot to mention: we are also thinking of doing light oak flooring.

I like white cabinets but it is a matter of taste. They look fine in the picture. Did you not want the dark brown?

Light oak floors will look great with black base cabinets and white uppers. I recommend SW Pure White for the cabinets AND walls AND trim. You can change the sheen to differentiate between surfaces. Chantilly lace is not a bright white and may look too yellow next to white upper cabinets. SW Pure White is a great and versatile white option without being too bright. It also pairs well with any white based marble or marble looking quartz options in virtually any light

I would clean the cabinets very well, and leave them, unless, of course, they need paint, and that doesnt show on your pictures. They are perfect color for your kitchen.

@LilDesignWorks thanks for the insights. We do have 1 room with Chantilly lace and a few rooms with SW pure white upstairs. Somehow we like the brightness of that 1 CL room.

Another confusion I always have is, would we be able to carry 2 colors well for the cabinets if we go with black base and white uppers.

@herbflavor @emmarene9 We are not a big fan of browns :/ These are dark brown cabinets. We may go and do them actual black at the very least.

@cat_ky Yes, they do need cleaning as right now the work is still going on. But overall with the new countertop and backsplash, we want to at least paint the cabinets as there is usual wear and tear.

Overall, I don't like brown colors. The whole point of this renovation was to get rid of brown. Everything was just too brown. Now I am at a point, I'd rather go tricon black on cabinets.

@LilDesignWorks 1 more question on your suggestion. I agree with you that if we are doing upper white cabinets, we should do the same color for walls also. Question to you is, can we do the same with Chantilly lace? i.e. cabinets, walls, trim all?

OR do you still feel Pure white is a better choice?

Also, another thing to consider here is that the countertop is calacatta ultra which is not very bright. So SW pure white could probably match better than chantilly lace. But again, we are still not sure. :-)

Either one of these two colors (sw pure white or BM Chantilly lace can be used for the upper cabinets and walls and trim. In general both of these are whites without any specific undertones, even though Chantilly Lace can read cooler depending on the room exposure. I believe SW Pure White is less stark and would work better with your gorgeous countertop and backsplash but I suggest sampling both and assessing in your space with your lights.

And dont be afraid of the black and white combination, it is a timeless option!

I think we'd go with SW pure white. We still have a few days to decide so lets see.

Another thing I am going crazy about is flooring. I want light oak LVP without too many knots. But not liking anything I see. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
