Tooth in hardwood or engineered hardwood

J Williams

My flooring update is covered in the cost of my remodel. My contractor committed to tooth in and finish the existing white oak hardwood flooring throughout. Due to supply issues, they now want to rip it all out and replace with Shaw Empire Oak engineered hardwood. Is this a comparable option in terms of quality, durability and maintenance? I don't want to be stuck with a lower quality option since I've already paid for it.
