A couple lives there, they are both doctors. One is a psychologist, the other is a proctologist.

They are pretty though and don't need to be anything more. I just would have them tucked against the wall and out of the tripping zone.

I've seen the stacked suitcases used as a table before. Wouldn't work for me, unless they were fastened together somehow, I'd knock them over for sure . . .

Given the decorating of the fireplace wall I'm guessing symmetry plays a big part in the decorating of this home.

Stacked suitcases were a thing a few years ago. The fashion never reached here, which is too bad: my organization has a large rummage sale and vintage suitcases are the very hardest thing to get rid of.

Stools??? MAYBE an end table. Never outside as they are breakable. Still odd place for an end table or even if they just like them as art...gotta be a reason. When we find out we will all say awwww of course.

The ugly rug bothers me almost as much as the stools.

The stool placement is just weird.

I would have used a bench or pair of chairs instead of a second (too similar) chest. Suitcases moved to a bedroom.

Yes they're stools for inside or out - they're strong enough to be sat upon

I have one tucked in next to a chair in our bedroom, and I use it for my coffee or tea if I happen to sit down there. Would never use it as an extra seat.

Thanks Oakley, the chairs I bought at a yard sale 32 years ago when we moved into this house and had them slip covered. i liked them because the cushions are down and they were cheap. The ottoman I bought about 8 years ago from a friend and had it upholstered.... I guess things evolve over time, at least in this house.
