Ist time renovator looking for kitchen inspiration
Comments (21)Thanks so much for the help! All the photos have elements of what I'm looking for Boxerpups, floor - I would love to run my wood into the kitchen but know we will be harder on it than most people and it is soft birch. You will see it in the attached family room so I have to take it into consideration. Tile is the best choice an we're thinking a large tile such as a porcelain slate as long as I can find something with a muted warm tones that is not too busy looking. So far no luck but I have a picture of a mudroom tile from an old magazine I love. I'll try to post it. Cabinets - I think mostly cream with painted island or all lowers painted different colors . The cabinets in the fourth photo with the bleached floors are perfect. counters - I think brown tones but I love grey ( husband not so much) #1 - love but too modern overall #3 - great mix of natural elements with fun color #4 - love cabs, counters, stools #5 - love lighting, stools rustic table with modern chairs, otherwise a bit too fussy #7 - great colors, beautiful backsplash. #13 - great clean look All others nice but but bit too traditional - Honeysuckle vine -I looooove the tile in the first caesarstone photo. I agree a bit dark otherwise but overall a great look. I think I have to get the floor sorted out and go from there. The next most important will be the tile since I want something really great. Comments (14)Your kitchen looks great, wish they were in the Boston Area - I'll be starting mine, hopefully soon, just starting the process of looking for what I like. I have the same layout as you but with 8 ft ceilings, 9 cabinets in mine - (one corner no cabinet do to structurally jog out) small and a condo too. The living room, dining room open to kitchen layout you have looks just like mine also. I am really looking forward to see how the 2 tier tear down to one level looks because that is what I am thinking of doing also. Can't wait to see yours finished! In your first post you mentioned a link to other photos you have that are not posted here. I don't see the link though. Can you repost the link if it's still available?...See MoreKitchen Remodel - Need Inspiration! Suggestions?!
Comments (5)You’d want to know if the stove w small hood is vented at all or properly . You’d want to know your options w the ceiling. Look over your layout. You have base drawers are they holding up w regards the construction handling wear and tear and glides ? The two areas of the drop in the counter height.... hmmmm . You’d be best looking over these core things of course the layout before working on surfaces like wall paper. The floor is done . I’d really want the decision about keeping cabs or not as drawers are present... maybe an editing in places (wall cabs) as in remove some ??? Each wall contains a different issue so detailed assessment and then an overall inspiration if no limits were placed and of course budget will limit you. A long range plan might work you could do in phases. It needs a fair number of things don’t get overwhelmed. Just get a notebook don’t start scraping and junk like that right now...See MoreInspiration/Ideas for kitchen update, counters & backsplash
Comments (19)No updates to post yet! We do have someone coming this morning to measure and give us an idea of how many square feet (and how many slabs) we will need. So far, the front runner is the Silestone Copper Mist, but I'm still concerned it might be a little too cool, and it only comes in a polished finish. I've also looked at some soapstone look alikes--in a leathered finish. I really like the look of a dark counter with our cabinets and furnishings. We've visited 4 granite yards so far, and haven't found a light colored granite that wasn't too busy or "splotchy", spotted looking. I also prefer the looks of a non polished finish, but I've read several posts about upkeep being a nightmare. There are so many different finishes--honed, leathered, suede, etc. It's hard to know which one would be the right choice! I'll definitely update when we finish....See MoreUser
