UPDATE: Birthday Bash 2009 July Month- Mariann yeah
Comments (78)Yippee! Mariann, I am so happy to hear that you are going to Well-Sweep. Their catalog had lots of stuff I'd like to try - especially the scented geraniums. I'd love to get some of those for my sis. I really hope you enjoy your trip and get some great plants. You deserve it!!! Although the debris in my yard is slowly but surely decreasing, the heat has been unbelievable. When sis got sick and the trees fell, I just didn't have the heart to get into the gardens. I was so sad to see my babies under all that stuff. Thinking about my sis, I just couldn't bear to go out and look at struggling plants. But lately, I've been peeking around a bit. I'm amazed that some flowers are still going strong, and others are recovering on their own. My Ruds are gorgeous as are the zinnias. I have two kinds of JMG that amaze me each time I go see them. I have variagated KMOGG that I wintersowed that is absolutely beautiful! I wish I had sown more. I must figure out how to harvest the seeds. I've harvested some seeds from a yellow 4 Oclock and a broken one too. I also have a vine white lady that is right at the gate that I love to see when I enter each day. Other things blooming away are several types of amaranthus, cosmos, and dahlias. I guess God's been out there doing the gardening for me. Isn't that wonderful?!?! I am looking forward to the fall when I hope to rebuild some beds and get my hands in the dirt again. So, what's blooming for yall? I was happy to see yall posting before our little thread went off the page. Fran, How are you? I see your swap is going strong. I can't imagine shipping anything in the heat we've had lately - over 100 degrees. Bunny, You doing ok? I miss talking to you since I've been away from the computer so much. Kids doin good? Have a great Friday tomorrow and a nice weekend. Nik...See MoreUPDATE: sept ~petal pushers~ shade swap-let's play!!
Comments (150)My deliberation process was interrupted by the phone. It seems someone stole my husband's credit card number so they're having to cancel his card and issue a new one. Want a good laugh? The people who stole his number used it at an online Christian t-shirt site, where they purchased just less than $2000 worth of silkscreened tees! LOL! How crazy is that?????? Okay, again, I'll be back. Right now I'm thinking box 4...See MoreNEW: Sign ups October ~Cracked Pot Gardner's~ Fall Bounty
Comments (40)Ooh, Mariann, I couldn't imagine even running a comb through my hair with that dent in there much less all they put your head through at the salon. Just thinking of them combing out sections before they snip with the scissors is making me shudder. When I worked in a retail store years ago I had to sort some things in our stock room. The ceiling was very low, only 5ft high (I'm 5'10") and had pipes running all over it. I was always so cautious when working in there but one day I stood up in the wrong spot and hit my head on a brace holding the pipes and went out like a light. I had a dent in my head for quite some time. That was back when I used hot rollers every day to get myself ready for my day. Ouch, the memories! Your mold problems are much worse than mine. The black mold can be especially dangerous. I just found some on one of the kids volleyballs that was left out under some bushes. I need to wash that with some bleach to remove it before they start playing with it again. I'm glad you wear a mask when it is bad. That stuff just isn't good for you....See Moreneed help finding Marianne Rose
Comments (64)Folks, I'm going to shill on Paul's behalf. If you love once-blooming roses, you have to have 'Marianne'. She is one of the most glorious sights you will ever see (at least in rosedom) when she matures. She's healthy, robust, vigorous, has a beautiful bloom, and an awesome (literally awe inducing) flush. I'm pretty sure she produces a bloom at every leaf node. She also has a wonderful fruity and damask perfume. I've said it before, this is the best modern gallica available (unless it's Gallicandy, lol). Think of it as a healthy, once-blooming Abe Darby, with 20x the blooms. Mine is still relatively small, but was one of the highlights of my Spring garden, even after the not-dear deer trimmed her....See Moreportlandmysteryrose
