Uneven Wall Design Help

I just moved to a new apartment and love the space but am unsure how to decorate this uneven wall. A gallery wall? Shelves on one side and art on the other? Any advice is much appreciated!

Pull the sectional away from the wall a bit. It’s too tight.

Ignore the wall and hang a triptych just as if the wall was flat.

It’s hard to tell without seeing the whole room. How do you use your sofa? Is it for reading and relaxing, or is it mainly for TV watching — or for when you have guests?

Funny but I would definitely not to a triptych on the wall.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. To clarify a couple of points raised. The wall behind the right third of the range is even and level with everything to the right of the range. I believe it's because it's one piece of sheetrock that comes to the frame behind that part of the range. The left 2/3 of the range is slightly skewed or recessed. Again, I think it's because there's a new piece of sheetrock and slightly recessed framing behind that part of the range and wall (apparently the framing wasn't touched by the new contractors and it was an unevenness that existed with the house). In any case, the range can never be flush because there are 2 "different walls" behind it. I like the thought of covering the gap with SS to make it look like a filler piece that likely won't get noticed and will cover the gap, as well as cost much less. The contractors actually suggested that as well as a possibility. By the way, our contractors did everything except floors and granite. The granite and floor guys were great - they actually noticed other areas of unevenness but because there was no continuous granite, I think the granite guy didn't notice it and simply squared each piece of granite to each respective piece of wall. We've discussed the "should" of the contractor having to cover it. We'll see now if they do what they should because they should have caught this earlier. Depressing, sad, etc... The thing is, the contractors are actually really good, creative, etc. -- they are just CARELESS and HASTY. It's the craftsmanship that seems to be lacking these days. BUT, we're just about done and will post pictures of the final product soon. Thanks again.

The only way that I can see that would make sense would be to have the drywall in back feathered out to close up the gap. What are you going to do about the gap on the sides? It should have filler pieces to go all the way to the wall and to be honest, you should have had a top custom cut. If this had been laid out on a template, the fabricator could have measured it to make up for the gaps. It may cost a bit more to do it right, but you really don't have much choice. I do love your floor tile though.

You can "fake" centering the window with light blocking panels hung off center on the right side. Hang the left panel just off the end of the window as usual, extend the curtain rod longer over the wall on the right side, hang the right panel more over the wall area. light blocking panel will stop the daylight from showing thru. Its a great little trick.

Need help with wide, uneven gaps in corners between tile and wall.

This is above the tub/shower. Again, he didn't do the waterproofing and I am confident the corner is well sealed behind the tile (goboard, goboard sealant, fibertape embedded in hydroban) but I still thought he would have run the tiles closer, as I can see the goboard behind it the tile. I assume the latasil caulk here is all that is needed. I just don't know if this is the way most do the corners in walls. all of the corners have gaps. Maybe this is the expansion joint that EJ 171 is referring to and supposed to be a gap?

It is always easier to get ideas when the whole space is shown in the pic...for instance why the couch is pushed into a corner? Next to a Window?... and why it is so close to the wall?...what is on the opposite wall...is there a door..an opening?...an adjoining space ?...it makes more sense from what we see to treat the two walls separately..not as if it was flat...shelves will be difficult a unless they are high enough to not interfere with seating as is...

This is the full space. its a 1 bedroom apartment and the living space is about 220 sq ft. This is where we hang out, watch tv, have drinks with friends etc

This is a help...it seems to me that the most effective way to enhance the space would be to paint the recessed wall in a slightly darker shade..adding a little architectural accent...no shelves ...but definitely treating each section differently...pull the couch away from the wall a little... if possible center the couch on the wall change and use similar art pieces centered on each side of the couch...choosing art to go with each wall color but matching in size and similar in style...hang rectangular shape art vertically with top of art not too much higher than top of tv...this will enhance the higher ceiling ...add to a roomier feel in the room....the monochromatic color scheme will also add to the spaciousness..by not stopping the eye on every feature in the room...if you are a little more adventurous ...a bigger...more colorful rug ...and the recessed wall in a color from the rug...will bring a little more life and excitement to the space
