Help with flooring/backsplash in kitchen
Comments (6)The Brazilian green I think would be too green for the backsplash against the Blue granite. If you are looking at the floor, maybe it would work as when I look at it sometimes it seems bluish. I put it in my bathroom with a black Uba Tuba for the counters and in the DR/K with Zodiac Argo Green counters....See MoreHelp me pick my backsplash and floor super white kitchen
Comments (75)I think you made very nice choices in the end. I like the backsplash you picked, because as others posted about the glass.... it brings down the quality of the kitchen..... The flooring...I think it will work out fine. We are having the same problem. I actually like the wider plank but either would work. I do like the color you choose and it was my first choice....then it would have been a brown picked up in your original flooring. I hope you post pics when you are finished! Oh just as an afterthought....did anyone suggest you do the backsplash in the same countertop granite? That might have worked also, but it's a different look and maybe an outdated look also?....I think you chose a good product...bet it's gorgeous! Best wishes on it's completion!!!...See MoreMidcentury kitchen restoration; help with backsplash and floors
Comments (16)By far the best plan is to know what's under the carpet. Basic Hardwood floor throughout the 2 spaces shown is in keeping of the era. The interest was not at floor level particularly , except as a backdrop : spaces started to open up w furnishings defining conversation area, peninsulas situated between kitchen and social areas etc: get hardwood down . Realistically at some point the range will get moved to get better venting so w hardwood and some planks reserved , the gaps can be pieced : you do not desire that much rearranging of the kitchen layout, but it will happen at some point....See MoreHelp with kitchen backsplash ideas that don't clash with new floor
Comments (240)What a charming house! You've done great. I had somehow missed this thread up to this point, and I did not read all (or even a significant fraction) of the previous responses. I have a 1910 house and also don't like subway tile. But I wanted something that fit the era of the house. I ended up going with a simple (and extremely cheap) 4x4 white field tile capped with a contoured molding tile (that almost but doesn't quite match the field tile because I couldn't find a molding I like from the a manufacturer that did a 4x4 field tile that was 4x4 rather than 4.25 x 4.25. Adds to the charm). I have very few uppers, though. I think a 4x4 white (or gray, since you seem to think white is too stark) field tile with black or charcoal pencil liner would be cool. These all show a pencil liner with subway because that's what the popular kids are doing, but it would work as well with a 4x4 or other basic field tile....See Morecatlover Leo
