You will not get shadows as much as rainbows from the cut glass, but the light will not be forced down as it is open top and bottom. if you need directional lighting you want something that is pushing the light down. I would put it on a dimmer as well so the light can be controlled.

I have a similar fixture in my dining area with the same size and number of bulbs. Although my dining area is part of a great room so the light is probably dispersed, by itself it barely provides enough light to read let alone do crafts. I agree with RL Relocation that you need a different type of fixture that provides directional light.

I am not able to show the space. We are remodeling a 1960’s house and it is totally gutted. Also, it is four hours from us. Thanks for the comments. We may need to get a different type of fixture.

How often do you craft? Is there any natural light?

We usually have our granddaughters visit about once a month and we usually do some type of craft activity with them. There is a 36 inch window close to the table that faces south. In the connecting living room is a 4 ft wide picture window that also faces south. The connecting kitchen has a window and French doors that face north. All three rooms are open to each other. I’m not sure how much natural light will come in. We are redoing this house from 4 hours away. The contractor has torn out walls and everything is down to the studs!
