There is a window on each side of the fireplace and raised panels under the windows. The windows are fairly large ,3 1/2 x 5 1/2 ., so there is not much room between them and the corners of the room, especially when we build the bookcases along the outside wall where we want to place the TV. I will try to draw a diagram and scan it in.

Scizzo, You could paint the inset an accent color or do stripes - vertical or horizontal in the inset. Then add shelves for the TV - some above for audio equipment - some below for baskets with cd/dvd storage. Does this make sense? Smiles:)

Not a Pro. Your rushing, if you post a pic of accurate dimensions of the room you will get so many different layouts from the posters on Houzz and one of them will work for you and your needs. I would not make a separate area for the baby and toys in your room, because they out grow the area fast, but I would make sure you have decorative storage to house the little toys, etc. Something that can later be used to store board games, blankets, etc. Think long term. Don't rush, just to fill the room.

I do, too, Aunt Thelma … we have a gallery wall around ours. I decorate the TV wall wherever I live as I would any wall. The TV is for function, but I want pretty things to look at, too. OP, there are so many arrangements you could do. This is one (ignore the art used, it’s only for size ideas). I added a faux yucca, but you'd want it in a bigger basket or pot. I just grabbed this one quick for the greenery: If that’s busier than you’d like, of course you could do less. I don’t know how your other walls are decorated. If you haven’t already, search ’art around tv’ for lots of inspiration. ETA: I like the idea of a school of fish sculpture … alone or with other art: Could use woven baskets, oars or ladder like Maureen posted, etc.
