Shelving or Cabinets above fridge?
Comments (18)I will have a regular depth refrig, recessed into the wall. The cabinet that will go over the refrig will be pulled out 3" from the wall so that it will line up with the front of the refrig for easier access. I actually asked my KD about pull-out shelves for in the cabinet above the refrigerator (and for the upper part of the tall cabinet next to the refrigerator). He didn't think it made sense because when you pulled it out all you would see was the bottom of the shelf, but if I have to stand on a chair to reach things in that upper cabinet anyway, doesn't it make sense to put pullout shelves in there so I can more easily reach the stuff on the back of the shelves? I thought it did, but I let it drop. Maybe I should have kept trying to convince him that it was a good idea? Comments (13)We went all the way up with a cabinet and 9 foot ceilings but the stuff on that top shelf is hard to access, although GREAT storage for things that I only drag out on Christmas or BIG parties. I love the drawing. I guess it depends on if you have something you want to display up there. Open shelf, often means DUST though. I know that I am constantly dusting the open shelves in our kitchen where we have cookbooks. Here is a thought - do you want a TV in the kitchen, because when I first saw your drawing, it screamed flat screen TV at me! Seriously. Well, assuming its location is good for viewing from somewhere....See MoreFlip up cabinets above fridge
Comments (14)Erika, if you have wireless, just get a Roku. You can watch Netflix, Amazon, and other stations without paying extra for cable service or having to have cable wired. There's also the Amazon Fire TV stick, and both Google and Apple have some kind of wireless TV receptors, too. But I'm only familiar with the Roku. I highly recommend it. We only have cable to the living room and Rokus on all other TVs. If DH wasn't addicted to news and sports, we'd only have Rokus at all TVs, if I had my way. :)...See Moremodified cabinet for angled ceiling
Comments (24)I think the configuration now looks odd. Having two tall cabinets next to one another makes it look unified. Here's my cabinet wall without the doors on my end cabinet yet but you can get the idea. Fridge cabinet is 36" wide and the cabinet next to it on the right is 30" wide. What you have looks disjointed and gives almost a ping pong effect because now your eye is bouncing between two large cabinets. Plus you have cabinets that are basically kitchen cabinets, then you break it up with a tv and cabinets underneath, and then another cabinet that feels like a kitchen cabinet. I won't have a tv in my space to the right. I'll have a buffet but it's the same idea....See Morearlosmom
