I recently got some new furniture for my family room, mainly consisting of sofa's from Lee Industries and end table/swivel chairs from Lexington Home. They had a "floor model" of the sofa style so I knew pretty much what I was getting when I ordered. The chairs I bought off the showroom floor. So far I have been happy with the brands and thrilled with the customer service from the furniture store. So, I'm on to do the dining room. I would love to give this place my business and the owner has suggested a few dining tables from Lexington and Kincaid. So far, with the limited exposure I've had, nothing has tickled my fancy. The owner is still looking but in the meantime, I'm hoping you all can suggest quality brands that don't cost a fortune that I can research. I am hoping for a sort of rustic elegant rectangle table, roughly 72-84 inches (without leaves) that extends larger. Seats 6-10. I have a budget of about 5K for the space, but don't need a buffet or any other main furniture.... just wall decor. Any brand/style suggestions for me?

The main difference between McCreary Modern and Lee Industries is that Lee is 8-way hand tied suspension which is more labor intensive and explains the higher cost. 8-way hand-tied is considered the gold standard for sofa suspensions and will typically hold up better than a sinuous spring or webbing suspension. I have been selling Lee Industries for years and have had many repeat customers who are so pleased with their previous Lee pieces they want to purchase again from them - they last for years! Lee does a good job of offering many high-quality, durable fabrics, but alas there are some that get in there that are less then ideal (this would be true for any sofa manufacturer). Make sure you buy from a retailer that knows their stuff so they can point you in the right direction of a fabric that is suitable for your lifestyle. The down cushions I do not recommend unless you want to fluff them daily. Whatever manufacturer you choose try to get an innerspring cushion wrapped in fiber or down - they hold up the best!

Not familiar with Sag Harbor but I just ordered a sofa with Crypton fabric at the advice of my interior designer who is very familiar with it and recommends it for areas with a lot of use. Re: dogs, I know a woman who makes custom dog beds and she uses Crypton fabric for the covers because they clean up so well.
