Plumeria 'Pink Pansy' bloomed!!
Comments (28)I see that Derrick has renamed this variety as Pink Pansy Hybrid on his website. I'm pretty new to collecting plumeria. A couple weeks ago I placed an order on his website because the deals were amazing. How could I say no to 10 cuttings for $60? I realize the varieties may not be true to what he's naming them but I'll be happy with some pretty flowers. I do not have plans for resale. I did try to stay away from the plumerias that he listed as hybrids and named after friends and family. Scratch that last part. I actually selected one or two "uniquely named" plumerias because I liked the pictures. I wanted some Hawaiian plumerias but a trip to the islands is not in the budget right now. I'm hoping Hawaiian plumerias have more fragrance than the plumeria blooms I've smelled in person in my area. I know it's nuts to start cuttings at this time of year but I'm a little plumeria crazy right now. :) I'm having great luck with seedlings too. I have no idea what I'm going to do with them next year but I'm having fun seeing great germination rates. I just received 100 seeds from a trusted Thailand seller this week. I started soaking 1/3 of the seeds yesterday. Dave - If you are going to toss some in the trash, ummm.......would you consider tossing a cutting or 2 my way? I will pay for shipping. Thanks!...See More2021 Hybrids Blooming
Comments (28)Ok Electric Watermelon it is!! Thanks Fred, I was really surprised at the number of flowers, but another bulb from this cross opened with 6 flowers also so it seems to be consistent in this cross. Anja , thanks for the info on Exotica, I will look for her and if she has pollen I will send it to you. I hope the hybrids keep this color because it is so vibrant!! But you are right, the second flowering will tell. I am not planning any hybrids this year (but that might change lol) because, I want to organize better as growing out a lot of hybrids takes room. Also, I have envelopes of crosses from last year that I wanted to plant and share and I didn't do either, so they are probably trash :( However, some of these crosses have made me appreciate just how rewarding and fun it is to try hybridizing and I have all my friends on this forum to thank, so THANK ALL OF YOU!! :)) Oh and here is another cross just starting to open...See MoreLove in Bloom - March 2021
Comments (1)Beautiful!! I wanted to "like it" but I can't see any 'Like' button. So I'll do my own LOVE button! :)...See MoreAugust 2021. Let's see your fragrant blooms and flowers please))
Comments (14)Party, wow. That is a lot of fragrant flowers. Going to miss those in a week or two I'll bet once fall settles in. Ugh. Very nice. I have a clematis like that taking over one of my pine trees and yet in full bloom I can not smell a thing. I don't get it. Very elusive with me( Jane, thank you))) You should get her into it. Once she gets one to bloom she will be hooked for sure. They are a lot easier to grow than one may think. I grow mine on beautiful black humidity trays all winter. What a difference to every one of them. Yes, Logee's is the way to go. Small plants and a bit pricey but you get rare you can't find anywhere else, and I have just about every plant I bought from them from years ago. They are great quality plants. Very mature usually and flowering age. Has your daughter ever been to Logee's? You could spend all day in that place. It is like a safari without the animals. Many plants huge planted in grown. Smells so good and in the winter, I call it a great escape))) Half my citrus collection is from them Many of my orchids are too) Bob, do you grow yours outside? Mines are stalking and flowering like never before since I have. I use to keep them inside or in my greenhouse but they love the rains and fresh air. They also get a lot more sunlight than anything I have indoors. please post a pic once it blooms. I had tow in full bloom and I stuck them in my kitchen window that faces East for the summer and every morning the sun would rise, I could smell that from a couple rooms away, especially when I went to reach in the refridge right next to that window)) Bonasi, than you. Smell awesome. Everyone that comes over tells me my yard smells like heaven all year long until the frost....See Morephalanx_viridis
