Can't live with my living room...Layout help please?
Comments (12)justgottabme: Yes! excellent plan! The Tv needs to be in that corner next to the fireplace -- either mounted on the wall or sitting on a console or cabinet. Having a cabinet in that spot would anchor that whole corner. And more excellent ideas above too! Love the idea of bookshelves in each of the corners -- perhaps just try basic Ikea Billy shelving -- or other build-it-yourself shelves (try stores like Targer or Walmart)-- just to see if that plan will work for you? Or look for vintage shelving or bookcases on your local Craigs List! Swivel chairs can be found -- check your local Craigs List! But for now -- once you move the TV -- try placing one sofa facing the fireplace -- and another one facing the window -- forming the classic L-shape....See MoreHelp with layout and decorating open Kitchen/ Eat in Area /Living Room
Comments (5)I would move the sofa off that wall and make the long end of the sectional be parallel with the kitchen peninsula, so the sofa faces the sliders on the long side. I would get a rectangular dining table to go in between the living room area and the dining kitchen area. The wall with the high windows could use a bookcase, or a console table, a lamp and some colorful art. Some large plants would be good too. You have great light and need some more contrast in your color scheme. See about a stronger color rug and throw pillows if you can. It's a lovely room....See MoreHelp with furniture layout in family room and living room!

Comments (2)@3onthetree I have added full floor plans to original post -Front door is the one near the stairs. -Stairs are actually 17, if you count the 2nd floor as a step :) -9ft ceilings. -2nd story is kid zone: 4 kids bedrooms, 1 Jack & Jill bath and a playarea -Wedge for stairs measures 25" to its lowest point on the wall. (Picture below) -I'd love to put the stairs somewhere else, but can't figure where. -No basement, on slab. -I'd love to utilize that twin closet area, walls can be taken down, ceilings in both closets have the same height as the main floor....See MoreUser
