We are building a white farmhouse and I have no idea which silver or grey color to use. I hope to have white windows, weathered brick base, and possible wood front porch beams but will go with white ones if needed. I really need some help in deciding this roof color. I dont want it so bright and light, that is doesnt show up. I really just want a silver that is a shade or two darker than my white house.. I suspect the reason so many of us struggle with choosing the correct grey/silver is because pics can be deceptive since these metal roofs seem to change color with the sunset. I still would appreciate any photos, updates, ect ect thank you

My Rosle is around 8 years old, and it works and looks like new. My friend has a hardwood block, made by her dad, which I covet - it is kinda like having a pestle (but is a bigger cylinder - about 3" x 4") without using a mortar. She just smashes her garlic in the pan she is using. I love brickeyee's idea of using kosher salt to turn it into paste. And just last week did my first roasting of garlic, I can see the appeal!

One roofer recommended roofing over (with a separator of either rigid insulation or sheathing) Yes, it can be done. And the slope can beincreased by tapering the insulation. Another contractor said the manufacturers would not warantee material in a roof over. Though the trade association of EPDM manufacturers specifically says it's okay.... Instead of taking any contractor's word as gospel, Google up the manufacturer's tech information or give their technical department a toll-free call.

It's so easy to misjudge exterior color. I spent weeks painting swatches of color on our siding, but it was early springtime, overcast and on the east side of the house. I thought I was choosing a dark green gray. Well, it was more green than gray and unfortunately, in the summer afternoons when the sun was orangey-er in color, the west side of the house (our back yard) took on the nastiest greenish brown color. UGH! It really bothered me for the first few months in the summer, but I eventually didn't think about it anymore. sherwin williams has a handy app that allows you to take a photo of something and use it to find their paint colors to match. If you'd like help with your sidewalk/front step project, you might start a new thread with photos focused on the walkways. Personally, I like concrete sidewalks I just might replace what you have with wider paths.
