I got 'Stranger'!!!
My family surprised me with 'Stranger' for my birthday! I can't believe I finally have the rose of my dreams! : ) They mail ordered it from Burlington Rose Nursery. The nursery owner told them that it was the last one she had. I'm so excited, but also a little bit worried. It's small and doesn't look too healthy, and it is not leafed out and it's already May. Do you think it'll be alright?

Comments (14)rhizo, we have one of those in Nashville. It's Monell's. Thank you west! I think I might've first been taken aback (they would've never known) and then, consequently, very curious. I probably would've thought they merely liked me, not wanted the seat. heh I'm more "American" than I knew (self-centered bunch we are!). Color television. huh! That's is really cool. The closest I can say is, I've been in places, often, where celebrites are, but to say I share a table? No. I can say I sat next to a university sports coach on a plane. It's as close as I can get. That, and I was in front of the celebrities' child, daughter inlaw and grandchildren at church. That hardly qualifies. Not even the same row! Comments (8)Put the coffee grounds down whenever you have them. I don't find them partucularly effective as a pest control but they do add organic matter and feed the plants. When to use compost tea, or Neem, depends. What are you using the stuff for? Compost tea to keep fungi at bay can be sprayed anytime, except during the heat of the day. Neem oil used for pest control is best sprayed when the target insect is present, Neem oil sprayed for fungi control is the same as compost tea. But be sure your soil is well amended with organic matter and is well balanced with nutrients so your plants grow strong and healthy and you won't need the rest of the stuff since the plants will simply not get bothered by most pests or diseases....See Morepics if the pages I got when I got the blue tiles
Comments (4)katishook, the lady who I bought the tiles from.. said she went to Lowes or Home Depot and bought a piece of plywood and had them cut it round.. and she bought the base at one of the Pier One stores on sale.. just the base.. So if you are thinking of just getting a new piece of furniture this might be the way to go.. or even go to thrift store and find a nice piece which needs to be refinished .. maybe paint the base black and tile the top.. Heck , look who is telling you guys.. I didn't know the difference in tiles..LOL just wanted to share what the lady did with the tiles I got. Huggy...See Moredamask_rose_zone9b

last yearHello everyone! It has been so long since I last posted on here. It's been such a crazy summer. I thought this summer would be free, but with college starting next month I've had placement tests, learning modules, and orientations galore from the time I graduated til now. I'm so happy I have a little free time now so that I can post on GardenWeb again : )
I want to thank you so much for your advice, I planted 'Stranger' in a bigger pot and it leafed out and grew lots of new shoots. I was so worried that it might not survive, but now it can't stop growing : ). A few days ago I went to water it, and lo and behold, hiding under a leaf, I saw a bud! I was so excited I jumped for joy! It's unfurled ever so slightly, and I can see a hint of lavender with white stripes. I'm so excited, I can't wait til it fully opens!!!

last yearHello everyone! I had to study for and take one more placement test recently, but now I am finally and officially done with all my placement tests (woohoo!). Below are the pictures I took of the bloom unfurling a week or two ago. Also, 'Stranger' has a tiny new bud!!! : )
