Kitchens Design Dilemma Appliances

Our designer gave us these renderings but we are having a difficult time deciding where to put the wall oven? Our appliances are a 36 inch induction cooktop with 30 inch wall oven with microwave/convection oven above. We have yet to pick out our refrigerator but are leaning towards a 36 counter depth or 36 or 42 inch built in.

Any other suggestions for the kitchen are welcomed.

Option two to me is the most generic typical way to go about it. It does break up some of the cabinetry but I think it’s the best option

I have never understood why, in a run of wall cabinets, one cabinet is higher than the others in the run. As if the installer made a mistake ordering cabinets or installed one at the wrong height and fast talked the home owner into accepting it. Take the cabinets to the ceiling and consider a 24" tall wall cabinet on top of a 30" tall wall cabinet.

Hello All, I am remodeling my kitchen and I am having issues deciding what to do with the fridge. I thought I was set but doubts.. are creeping in. My designer wants me to move it out of the site lines but doing so will cause me to take at least 6 inches inches from the entryway closet (making it unusable)...I would love to reconfigure this closet by turning it a bit but my designer doesn't deal with architect issues and I don't know how to find anyone to help me (such a small job) ..... we are doing this work ourselves. place but I need some architectural vision. In pic 2 you can see closet is already turned...This was moving a structural wall over about 11 inches which we decided against...you can see in Pic 4 the way my closet is currently shaped. So that's forcing me into option B pic 1 leaving the fridge on the long wall..I'm just worried: I don't want to be forced into buying a counter depth fridge and am I messing up a beautiful design by leaving fridge on long wall? I like the look of pic 1 but is this a mistake to leave fridge here if I have other options? Then I thought maybe if I did move fridge just have a shallow entryway closet and add some nice closet built in's just on the other side of the pantry ..see pics. Thanks for your advice.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree regarding base cabinet storage (island or anywhere else) vs upper cabinet storage. First -- this is assuming the base cabinets are drawer bases or, at the very least, with roll out tray shelves (ROTS). [The builder-grade base cabinets with stationary shelves (and, sometimes, half shelves!), are very, very poor for storage.] Drawer bases are twice as deep as uppers (24"D base vs 12"D uppers) Drawer bases are approx 30" tall (not counting toe-kick space & counters). Uppers range from 30" to 42", but most are 30" or 36". Drawer bases...everyone can reach the entire height & depth of drawers within the drawer base Uppers...Most people cannot reach more than half-way up the uppers, and in most of those cases, only the very front of most shelves ROTS vs drawers -- drawers are more functional than ROTS, but if you cannot get drawers, at least get ROTS. Most here, including me, recommend all drawer bases with very few exceptions. One exception is the trash pullout, although it could be argued it is similar to a drawer since the base/hanging piece is attached to the door and pulls out with one motion. Some things, in my opinion, work better in uppers -- we're a tall family and we found that dish & glass storage does work better in uppers as opposed to drawers. However, if I had to choose one or the other, I'd choose drawers. For a short family, it's possible dish & glass storage may work better in drawers.

Do you have the measurements or a basic drawing of the current floorplan? Also a few more pictures from a different angle would help. (maybe facing away from the kitchen sink?) My mother wanted an island but we learned you should really have 4 feet of clearance all around if you want to be able to open cupboards and appliances, and walk by other people. If you have accurate current measurements I could play around with it and see what I come up with 👍

You have 3 doorways coming into the kitchen...what are they for?

I would choose option 1 with the following changes:

1.make the cabinet on the left of the fridge a 24" depth tall cabinet to house all the cleaning supplies or a pull out pantry. That way that wall is all full depth and visually cohesive+ gaining extra storage+saving on countertop

2.the corner cabinet on the right side of the door should have the uppers meet the lowers. The space highlighted in red can become your appliance garage(store mixers, other small appliances that are not used often) and or/use that space for a built in coffee maker if you fancy one. You are also saving a bit of countertop/backsplash

3.this layout is great because it gives you the most continuous countertop space around the stove top. Because the space gained in storage as per above #1 and #2 you can consider using some of the upper space on the left and right of the hood for open shelving or at least some glass cabinets for a more open feel. Of course if you like this. Will give some example inspiration pics

I would choose option three. first you are right across from the island easy access to place cookies sheets eat right out of the oven. and Im guess all your spices and cooking supplies with be close to your stove top so it makes sense to me to have it right next. That was my reasoning for my new kitchen and I have no regrets.

My preference in order is 2, 1 (with great changes noted above) and a far distant third place..... number 3.

I like 2, with the modification of swapping the refrigerator with the cabinets to the right, so there is a longer continuous countertop and to bring the refrigerator closer to the sink and cooktop. You didn’t give any information about any specific needs, but I would use the area that is left of the refrigerator as a coffee and/or snack bar.

Our concern of #2 is that it will make that wall asymmetrical and unbalanced. Would you eliminate any of the cabinets? What are your thoughts? Thank you all.
