OJO, i actually knew about the stems getting dark color from last season when my jalepeno plant did that! but thank you for the help just in case! this plant is only about 3-4" tall and it had lost all its leaves then where the leaves sprout out turned brown and the leaves fell off! so no leaves and a brown tip=dead! :( so i called the guy i bought them from and i am going to pick up a few more plants tomorrow! a new devils tongue, and 3 others i am not sure about, want to see if he has something that is similar in heat as a jalepeno for the GF and a good stuffing pepper, and then maybe something off the wall

I think it got dry. Most likely the person came to water, but didn't give as much water as you do. Every leaf transpires a certain amount of water and a survival mechanism for the plant is to drop enough leaves so that the total amount of water used is closer to the amount available. Now that it is back under your care expect to see new foliage. Dennis

Plants have their own sense of time that isn't measured by the hour hand on a clock, rather, day length (technically it's the length of the dark period) is what the plant pays attention too. When the day length signals the plant to grow, and other cultural conditions allow it to grow normally, your plant should from that point forward start producing healthy growth. It can't 'repair' the damaged growth, though that will eventually be shed and forgotten as the plant grows. What you're seeing is probably the result of an ongoing shedding process that may well have been instigated by conditions that affected the plant even before you acquired it. Your very best coursed of action is to make a good plan that A) ensures good root health B) takes advantages the plants more robust periods and makes allowances for when the plant would be better off without extra human generated stress C) has you ensuring cultural conditions in the area of light, temperature, and nutrition that subject the plant to the lowest level of stress you can comfortably manage. Fortunately, these things are much easier than they sound, but it's not realistic to expect to see the results of your efforts in a month or two. Choose a course, stick by it, be patient. Wonderful table!!! Appears to be walnut...likely midwestern. Those tables with that grooved leg were made between 1880 adn maybe 1910...maybe even 1920. The difference in the finish is likely due to the table and 3 leaves being refinished and the other 3 leaves were not. Of course the rack is different wood, it was just for storage....not "furniture". I had it's twin.....but my daughter has it now. Loved that table....It could be a tiny little table in a small apartment, and you could flip a leaf up to eat on....or it could expand to fit a family of 6 or 8. I can't imagine what was patented....that sty;e table was fairly common in the day adn 45 years ago not unusual at farm sales. What kind of leaf support is there? And it appears as if a cleat has been added to the drop leaves to keep them from warping....likely when it was refinished. I saw a table exactly like that, with 5 leaves, oak, all refinished, leaves also redone....sold at a sale 3 weeks ago for $165. In my mind way too little....but it was a tag sale and didn't even sell the first day so the price must have been pretty close.
