The number of seeds that did not resemble the advertised plant would be in high 90%. Which is dissapointing for the time and energy that goes into getting a desert rose from seed to a flowering speciman, Not to worry I enjoy the process of growing and propagating, There are still another 30-40 that havent flowered yet, I may get lucky with these, I also have what appears to a be white one flowering any day now here is the red as a full plant

I'm in zone 5 (so quite a bit colder than you!) but my 5yr old own root Teasing Georgia this spring it is probably 7/8ft tall x 3ft wide. That is after I took off about 2ft of winter dieback. I expect it to be larger by the end of the summer. It is grown on an arbor and has done spectacular! I couldn't be happier with this rose. The flowers are fairly large, not huge but not small either. Once it starts blooming I can post a photo if you like. I got mine bareroot from DA.

Yes Kristine, Olivia is a star! Sharon, out of all those Austin’s I own, I love Poets wife because the scent is sweet and fruity! I absolutely love it, but can’t say it is the strongest scent. Jude definitely has the strongest scent. Because they are so young, I wouldn’t be able to tell you just yet the most accurate observations- they have not developed enough to put on huge displays! Desdemona is gorgeous, and very floriferous for a first season rose. If you stick your nose into the flower, you’d smell a delicate fresh rose scent- my boyfriend tells me it smells like rosy soap! I find his description a little strange, but I actually have a weaker nose than he. But so far, the strength of Desdemona’s scent is nothing special.
