Wrinkled plumeria cutting

I just started trying to grow some cuttings and they are getting very wrinkled. Potted 19 days ago in cactus soil. Was instructed not to water. Then 1/2 cup at 3 weeks and in 1-2 months when it has leaves give 1 cup/week. Small leaves are starting to grow but worried about the wrinkling.

They are indoors in Colorado and sit in a south facing window. They are firm, however do seem to have a bit of give when squeezed firmly. They don't feel rock hard.

Any thoughts if they are ok or if I need to do something different?

the yellow stuff looks like kids paint???

usually you strike very small cuttings.. that can cope until some roots appear ... yours look huge ... and it looks like they are desiccating before they can get a root out ... drying out ...

can we see a pic of the whole plant ...

did you start with moistened media ... or bone dry ... you can add a little moisture to a damp media ... but its often near impossible to wet a dry media from the top in time for the plant to grow ...

The yellow is paint. The seller splatters washable paint on them to color code them. I brought them home from Florida.

I followed the instructions given and started with bone dry media. Since I live in Colorado I started running a humidifier hoping it would help. I’ve read about people soaking them to rehydrate? Should I water, soak, or replant in moist media?

I've dipped several wrinkled cuttings in root tone and potted them. They all rooted. (The red one slower to root)The bottoms do tend to receed and sometimes turn off white. They should be ok. Maybe you could give it a little poke with a sewing pin. If it oozes white it is most likely fine. If it oozes brown, it is not good. Brighty

I let my cutting dry then water. I have read different ways. My cuttings are heartier and seem to grow well easily. They even survive the over watering that rain sometimes delivers in my area. I have 5 huge plumeria now. I would logically think, the larger the cutting, the more water needed to start it. Good luck.

As soon as you see the your plumeria breaking dormancy and, if the weather allows, soak your plumeria roots. Acclimate it to more sunlight in stages of a few days each, starting with bright shade, morning sun, more sunlight, until they get full sun.
